HID Conversion - 2012 Explorer Base

With this VLED PnP kit, if you wanted to go back to regular halogens would it be possible? I assume so since they're "plug and play". Other than the hole in the dust covers what other evidence of the HID kit would be left behind?

Is a harness required for the 35w? Some sites say go for it since its cheaper than repairs. And for the explorer, does it matter whether its delay relay or canbus?

How do i get to passenger side fuse panel cant find it

I cannot find the fuse panel

Just an FYI. VLEDS is no longer going to be carrying the HID kits. I talked to them over the phone and they are transitioning to LED headlights in the next 8 months or so. Just throwing that out there because if yours fails you won't get a replacement through VLEDS.

Im having a problem with the passenger side ballast, its weird, ive had to replace it twice so far. I noticed that the cables are very close to the water reservoir for the windshield wipers.... could this be affecting the ballast ? or it could just be a coincidence ?

The bulbs and the driver's side ballast are working perfectly for almost a year now.

Sup Razziel you from Ecua ah nice explorer! As far as your ballast issue Vleds ballast are known to die after a yr. People noticed it had longer life with a separate power kit.
Ddm tuning has better kits and last longer.

Awesome, thanks for the input, ill try the DDM ones

I WAS going to do the conversion at a local place. I went to a few places but they do not carry XENON HID, they do have a Krypton HID kit which they say has a brighter output.
So I decided to do more research.
On my 2003 Ex I have a Philips Kit, was installed by a friendly neighborhood dealer and is working perfectly. That one is Xenon HID for both hi/lo beam. Pretty straightforward w/ two bulbs and one ballast per side.
Now, can someone explain in simple words how does the 2013 system work in terms of high low beams: just one bulb? a lense is doing the work? and can you comment on the difference between the two gases as a light source? They said Krypton color is around 5,000 kelvin (which is about right where the color temperature of the Phillips kit is and has an output of 3900 lumens as per the spec sheet...
I want to hear from you guys/gals...
My regards

Hey fellas,

I'm new to these forums and recently got the 2012 ford explorer xlt. I was wondering if I should go with a bi-xenon kit to keep my hi/low's?

I read that these explorers have some sort of moving piece so I was wondering if the light bulb itself also needs to be dual beam.

Also, I was wondering if there are any indicator lights kept on on the dashboard after installing these kits. On a 2006 explorer I had an indicator light on the dashboard until I install a dual beam hid bulb. I wonder if this 2012 explorer will have the same problems.

I'm planning on going for the 35w kit 6000k on heads and fogs.

Thanks guys.

You don't need hi-lo beam bulbs. The bulb type you need is 9005. The high beam is activated mechanically with a shutter in the headlight housing, all you need to do is replace the bulbs. You won't get any warning lights on the dash either.
