I am looking into upgradeing my headlight system. I just bought the crystal clear headlights and i am looking into a HID System to put in them. I am looking into the ones that have HI/Low Beams. I have seen three different systems out there. The first one is on low beam is 35w amd on high beam it is 55w the buld does not move. The second one is the one that move up and down. And the third is a HID low and then on the top of the HID Bulb is a regular halogen that is your high beam. I was think of getting the HID/Halogen. Let me know what you think.

do NOT get the kit that is 35/55 from the same bulb. I say go for the one that has the halogen high beam.

I have seen the third option on ebay, but they were all in H4 size. Hard to picture getting both an HID unit and a halogen bulb through the smaller hole for the 9007 bulb.

I have the 9007 dual bulb. My low beam is 5500k and the high is 55w halogen. It works pretty darn good. My kit didn't come with the dual bulbs, but I added them not too long ago.

96limitedx has Hid's that are the one bulb with no high beams and they are damn bright.

What's the reasoning behind that? It's the same as your normal bulb

but those wont pass inspection in many states. We have to have high and low beams in Mississippi. Mine are pretty much just like his beam/brightness wise- but I have the high beam to make them less illegal:)

So you just stuck a bulb on the high beam wire and the ground?

they are pumping more current through a 35w bulb to get the 55 watts-NOT GOOD. In a 9007, the actual filaments are in different locations to make the different beams... the 35/55 kit just makes a brighter low beam(with one gas capsule), not an actual high beam. That is unless it is a TRUE bixenon bulb, which will have 2 gas capsules.

right...
I replaced my 12000k single bulbs with 5500k that had the halogen high beam. I just wired the high beam to the stock 9007 connector. Low beam puts power to the ballast and hight goes straight to the halogen bulb.

cool so with the high beams you have both bulbs on or just the top halogen?

just one bulb is on at a time. I thought about making both come on for high beam-but I was worried that it would cause too much heat for the HID bulb. If I hold back on the dimmer lever thingy I can make them both come on:)

nice that must suck for those honda's that flash their lights at you

2900 lumens(HID) + 1700ish lumens(halogen) = VERY BRIGHT

we dont have inspections :D all they care about is emissions. ;)
They inspect headlights here but not emissions. I have straight pipes and pass inspection.

my cousin has stright pipes on his truck...passes emissions just fine..mine did also when i had exhaust.

in ohio we dont have emissions or head light inspection.

There are also bi-xenon HID's. The Xenon bulbs in the bi-xenon kit stay fixed and there is a shield that covers and uncovers the capsule of the xenon bulb as you switch from low to high beam, thus changing the beam pattern. The high beam gives an upward projection and the low beam gives a forward projection. You will maintain the same beam pattern with dramatic increase in intensity and distance.

Can be bought here

FYI...I have called this company and CATZ is no longer in buisness. They are getting different kits in soon. I gave the guy my email, so if anyone is interested I will post it in here.
