The first kit I ever bought was for my 92. It was the "Bi-Xenon" kit, and it was on eBay, BUT it was a DDM kit. I absolutely loved it. Never had issued with bulbs not firing, or bulb color being uneven (Which im already experiencing with my <70 hour "Xentec" kit), or anything else. The only thing I didnt like was the Bi Xenon part. Theyre supposed to replicate still having high beams (For dual beam bulbs like the 9004/9007), but all it does is activate an electromagnet to pull the base of the bulb back, and change the lights output pattern. I paid about an extra 30$ or so for it, and NEVER ONCE actually drove with my high beams on (Because IMHO, it looked like ass). I actually undid EVERYTHING and got the bulbs back out, thinking maybe I put them in upside down, or sideways, but everything had the same results. The fact that the base moved also made them a bit "wobbly" when on bumpy roads, and it seemed as though the bulbs were loose, when in reality they werent.
I also happened to score a relay harness with them (Only because it was a BiXenon kit).
Here were my 10,000k's, but they honestly seemed like a 6500k kit.
I am gonna steal a line from Celly in one of my old threads,
"You get what you pay for when it comes to HIDs"
...I could not agree with this statement any more. I paid 90$ for the DDM kit on eBay shipped to my house, and had amazing results, besides the whole "Bi Xenon" part.
Now lets get into my other HID purchases. I was being a cheap ass recently and saw "Replacement ballasts, and bulbs" on eBay for $10 /ballasts, and $9.99 /set of bulbs. Any color, any size. I ordered a set of 6500k H3's for my new projectors, and a set of compact ballasts. The ballasts are great, but then again, theyre only a couple weeks old, with less than 70 hours on them. The bulbs....theyre horrible. First fire up they were great, but after a night of driving, woah. The flickering started, and progressively gets worse. Now one bulb seems like 6500k, and the other seems like an 8000k. And then patterns theyre throwing off have some glares that look like <3000k! I turn my headlights off when I come up to stop signs/traffic lights out of sheer embarrasment because they flicker so bad. It looks like the beam is dancing all over the road, jumping all over. The 6500k part is amazing, I can see them on the road in broad daylight. They cut through rain and fog like crazy. I will never buy a kit over 6500k. In fact, the next kit im buying, hopefully this week, is going to be a 5000k.
I was once a young punk who seen a few vehicles with blue HIDs and had to have them. I soon realized how stupid it was, and have grown out of the phase. Theres literally NO output with them, sure you can see okay on clear nights, but thats it. When it sprinkled, I seen nothing, thank god for my 20$ Pilot halogen foglights.
Im actually going with a company "Retro-Solutions" for my next kit. Its been reccomended by a few great members on the site, and they have amazing reviews.
