lol.. wtf is with the title?.. haha..

Anyways..
I guess my main question would be is.. how much can the 5.0L take? How much of a rev is too much?
If I'm hard on it, it'll get to 6000rpms before it shifts.. and it shifts Hard... [I kinda like it.. I don't know if it's good.. but yea..]

If 6krpm's are too much, I was thinking I would down the "D" Rev Limit to 5000rpms or 5500rpms.. or whatever is the safe max..

Nice title...I don't know how high it can go, but I wouldn't take it past where the stock limiter is... I always thought it was at 5500?

A stock 302 can easily go 9,500 revolutions in a 60 second period. Keep it in 2nd gear and just go go go.

5400ish?

Your valves will start floating at about 5400RPM. There is really no reason to rev that high- My rev limiter is set at 5300.

Huh? 5400 RPM's? That doesn't sound right to me.

It's the tune I guess, or the transmission being slow.
Do you think putting the limiter back on would solve this?
[By default the limiter is removed]

Daniels shifts are raised by 200 rpm. I would be willing to bet that his stock tach is off by around 150-200. Revvin' to 6k- definately unnecessary. The engine has already begun to "roll over" at that rpm.-j

Negative, no laptop.

If I put the rev limiter down, would that force it to stop? [In the sense of not letting it get any higher than what the limiter is set at?]

I honestly think a shift kit at this point would help, the transmission is just so slow.. the computer tells it to shift and it's like.. huh?.. what? oh ok...

Typically-
you want the rev limiter just out of raange from where you are actually using power-
in other words-
moving the rev limiter down would cause a loss of power from the alternating misfire induced-

I'd play with the shift points-if it was me.

I know how we can check your tach though--

shift the gear selector to 2
now-accelerate slowly-at about 30mph punch it and hold it floored-

if you can hit 80 mph in 2nd gear you will be around5700- 5800 rpm's.

now--do this and tell us at what vehicle speed the limiter kicks in. I'm curious.

I'm gonna have to wait man.. it was perfect a day ago.. now we got a crap load of snow and ice everywhere... I was driving just a bit ago in 2nd though... Uhm.. The tune by default has the limiter removed. I'm going to have to turn it on. [But what to set it at?]

I don't think I wanna go to 80mph in 2nd.............. I don't like going 50 in 2nd.. It just doesn't seem good.... lol....

Either way, I have to wait.

EDIT: Wait wait, it's not removed I don't think.. it is set at 6000rpm... so it's "kinda" removed.

Funny you talk about going 50 in second gear...sometimes mine will drop into 2nd going down the freeway if I hit a really big hill:D

In first gear, when I get on it, it shifts into second at 50-55mph.

That doesn't sound good? idk....

I'm havin a blast dude... hit my ABS killswitch and mashing the pedal.... although.. I do miss the clear dry streets... arg... It needs to clear up...
