As most Explorers, my hood struts are out. I replaced some strong working hood struts from the junkyard and swappedthem out. They still dont work. hese were working fine before, why wouldn't they work now?

eBay has them new for 20 or so bucks each. Worth it?

Go to rockauto.com thats were I got mine.

i got a stick never fails

got my hood struts from Rock Auto 2 1/2 years ago. Still work fine.

Strong Arms are available at your local auto parts store for like 12-14 bucks.

Try Hyster part number 1392812. They're the right length and stroke, but they are stronger. 1 of them will hold my hood open.

Do yourself a favor and get one of the QuickLift kits from Redline Tuning.

OEM-style struts, purchased from numerous places, have always failed in short time.

Thanks guys.

I would definitely get those truts, if I were keeping the vehicle myself. I am fixing it up and selling it. We might be lucky to break even with the puppy.

I appreciate all the input!

Lisle Hood Prop #45900 . $25 at Sears. Always works, never fails, and good for knockin' the armadillos off the roads here in Texas.
