I recently bought a -93 Ford Explorer and I almost know nothing about it.

How can I tell if i have Traction-Lok on it?

Actually, I am not even shure what model it is, as far as I have ben able to find out from this and other sites I think it is an EB but I am not shure, it has the molding on the side, power seat but no chromed grill.

Regards, Lars

The colors indicate an EB (the tan lower body). To find out if you have a trac-loc jack up the rear end (with the tranny in netural) and rotate one of the tires. If the tire on the oppisite side turns the same direction as the tire you are turning, you have a trac-loc. If it turns the oppisite direction, its an open carrier. Another way to tell is to check the tag attached to one of the diff cover bolts (if its still there). The tag will have two lines of numbers stamped into it. The first set of numbers on the second row indicates your gear ratio and weither on not you have a trac-loc. You usually can't read the first number (its covered by the bolt head) but it should be a 3. The next letter/number indicates weither you have a trac-loc. If there is an L, you have a trac-loc (L=Limited slip). If its a 2, 5 or a 7 you don't have a trac-loc. The nubbers (2,5,7) will indicate the gear ratio. 2=3.27:1, 5=3.55:1 and 7=3.73:1.
