now thats some funny $hit, makes me glad i got rid of my jeep,i hated that thing anyways, but they could have gotten it out without any damage, there just amatures,i used to do towing, gotta love rookies, most of all,had a young guy behind the wheel of the jeep that probably didnt know what he was doing to begin with

They earned this award:

They must not have known what a Hi-Lift or "Handy Man" jack is... Idiots.

And that one ****** almost ended up underneath that XJ lol.

Can someone enlighten as to why the axle ripped off like that. I've never been stuck that bad where I even thought that could happen. I would like a real answer, not "it's a jeep". Thanks guru's.

Easy.. the axle control arms which hold the axle to the body are made out of THIN STAMPED steel  that you can flex by stepping on.. My buddy bent the crap out of his just wheeling. So trying to extract the vehicle in the video with the right wheel so far down would easily fold it like a pretzel.

Thanks for the enlightenment guys. I feel kinda bad for the jeep guy but, I also think it's funny as hell.

That's the situation where a winch, high-lift, a shovel, and some elbow grease are useful. An hour or so of crankin' on a high lift, and some shoveling, and use the Super Duty as nothing more than an anchor and he could have almost extracted himself. With a pull-pal, he may not have even needed the super duty.

But you gotta love the 'Curly Method' of vehicle extraction: {Curly voice on} Pull harduh, Moe! Pull harduh!! {/voice}

Edit: Who were the morons standing next to the strap?? None of them have ever seen one snap, apparently...

Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad & Fourwheeler would have a hay day with everything that was done wrong and dangerously.

I bet they've seen worse lol.

i was thinking the same thing about the strap snapping and hurting someone. I saw one smart guy back up when he started to pull. Funny stuff, you gotta love stupid people.

the guy in the SD was pullin him like an ass, something with that much power he shouldnt be pulling like that. there was way to much force put on that jeep.

I agree, if you can't pull it out doing a running start and yanking isn't gonna make matters better. That looked like a scene that got cut out of the movie dumb and dumber!!

In some cases, a decent tug is necessary to break the stuck vehicle free. On low traction surfaces (e.g. sand, snow, slick mud, etc), the pulling vehicle will never get enough traction to begin to move a stuck vehicle. Judicious application of momentum is key to getting it going. If I hook my truck up to a stuck quad, and a few gentle tugs don't get it out, I'm not going to take a 20' running start; I'm gonna hand the guy a shovel and tell him to start digging, and then we'll try it again. However, if I'm using my Explorer to pull out a stuck SuperDuty, I may need to use my momentum to help get it moving. Provided both ends are securely attached to solid anchor points, I might give it a healthy tug.

But yeah, the guy was definitely just beating the hell outta that Heep... An hour with a winch, shovel, and a hi-lift and it would have driven out under its own power.

I saw this on my frontier forum. I really thought it was going over and going to send the guy standing on the bumper flying.

those jeep people.....

Watching the full video, the way they attempt to remove it from the creekbed after the axle dislocated is just sickening. No ramp, just pull it THROUGH the bank. Makes me wonder how they got it back to the parking lot. I don't think anyone there really cared enough to break out a shovel or jack.

I dont think the owner of the jeep even cared. From what i heard on the video sounds like he just didn't give a crap.

rofl good post

wouldn't it have been easier to pull from the rear and slide it over so they could pull it straight?

That would have taken some thought on their part, but it appears that they are incapable of such thoughts.....:D
