Wow! Fantastic video. Would probably take me a little under six hours to do the same.

Wow indeed.

Takes 6 minutes. Charge labor 1½ hours.

Damn, Want to come help me do both lowers? Nice video...

A Forida truck you say... 6 hours.... I want to see a "nice" 10 years old "salter" attacked in 6 minutes at "ground" level.... wish I had a hoist.... BUT overall a great video that certainly lends itself to five stars in giving a DIY'er a chance at succeeding at something that sounds "scary tough" but from the video seems "almost routine".

this was a 8 year old car, and a salter (running in sweden), no florida here.

the right tools makes a world of differance...

When I replace mine here shortly( have the new ones sitting under my rear seat) we will see If I can get both of the Lowers out in under 10 min HAHA...its gunna take me like six....ty mins per side.

Hope you didn't put any stress risers into the spindle bracket when you beat on it...Also, it's a lot easier if you put a cold chisel into the pinch slot to spread the upper balljoint clamp and gently tap up on the upper control arm arm.

Indeed, there were a LOT of things that went well in that case that seldom do in the salt belt... All the cotter pins were already removed (or he sheared them off with the impact), two whacks and the tie rod popped out, three whacks to free the ball joint, no banging involved in liberating the rotor from the hub flange, the CV spline didn't stick in the hub... none of that stuff happens in my garage.

I would like to know how long it took to replace everything. Is there a follow up video? I'm in the process of replacing my front ball joints. I used a "C" frame to pop it out. It worked fine. I broke a cheap Harbor Freight "C" frame installing it. I bought an Astro Pneumatic set, and it worked (even though both are manufactured in China).

My mechanic has major routine when it comes to replacing balljoints on explorers. However, on the oposite side he had to use the puller to get the driveshaft to loosen from the splines...

somebody help!!

the video was removed from youtube! terms of use violation it says. where else can i view the video?

Video for ball joint replacement

Go to youtube and search for ball joint replacement. Someone has made a whole series of video clips generalizing the process. The clips ARE NOT Explorer specific!!

I missed it, Thanks any way and keep up the good work.
