Whats up? I was just wondering what I should do to my mostly stock 93' Explorer for Christmas. I have a budget of about 3,ooo and I don't want a crap job. whether it be a lift and tires or engine work. all suggestion are welcomed.

What are you wanting to do with it? What kind of shape is it in? If the engine or tranny is going and its a DD, get that fixed. If its a DD/Trailrig, lift and tires.

...you could get an elite membership here...:D

...i take it your vehicle is 4x2??? or 4x4??? you could start here for an inexpensive lift,

buy some tires and wheels...get a cold air intake and new exhaust for better milage and horsepower...;)

With careful consideration, patience, and bargain shopping, 3 grand will go a LOOONNG way on a first gen. But first, you have to decide what you eventually want out of the truck, and make steps toward that end....

Well its a DD right now that I have taken it on to trails as is. Engine and Trans are all in great condition, clutch is one year old. the heads where replaced by the original owners. I was thinking I wanted to build the 4.0 or build a V8 that I have from an old corvette. but a lift and tires seems more the way I want to go.

Since the engine and tranny are in great condition, I'd say go with lift and tires and if you have anything left regear asap. But shop around online and research prices so you'll have an idea what to budget for and check the for sale thread here as there are always great deals there. And also look around this forum at other rigs so you'll get an idea of how the finished product will look.

You could get the 302 and C-4 tranny that's in the paper here for 400 bucks total. I wish I could get it.

if the motor and tranny are fine then leave them alone. maybe invest in a good tune up (quality plugs/wires0). There is also a bunch of small bolt-ons that can be done (bbk throtle body/mass air/inake/performance module/performance exhaust). Suspension is where you have the biggest choice to make and it all depends how much money you want to spend (ie camburg 4x4 entry kit: 5" Lift, 10" Travel=$1650 Parts or 4-6" Lift, up to 21" Travel =$5600 Parts). Skyjacker, Autofab & Gaint also make suspension kits. Maybe I missed it but do you have a 2wd or 4wd

I have the 4wd just fix the door pins today Wooo.... anyway. I picked up that old vette motor from my friend today. not saying ill use it right away but what trans and transfer case can I use with that motor?

What im looking towards is something like yours bloodbane what part of colorado do you live in?

Please don't put the chevy engine in your explorer--:(

lol I dont want to but its free and parts will cost me close to nothing and I know some one that would build it for free for me. Im starting to go to the idea of supercharging my 4.0

I have an idea for your explorer. Sell it and use that and the 3k to buy this.

lol I would love to have that explorer, where is it located at? somewhere in cali. the problem is I have a loan out on my explorer so I would need to sell it for about 3 to get anything out of it

I've seen the 350 swap done and it more work then you think. If your intent on a v8, then trade your 350 for a ford 5.0. Motormounts are available and you have the option of a c4 conversion.
