Okay. Point to Izwack. The Original Explorer was what I had meant. I forgot that I need to be a "little" bit more specific around here.

^^^^ That is the kind of attitude that ends up lending itself to the creation of stupid "laws" that limit ones ability to customize a vehicle to ones own tastes; "New England" lift/bumper/height/exhaust/ laws come to mind all to easily.

Really? You're that poor at recognizing sarcasm?

And how does my "attitude" cause that problem?

One of the troubles with a non-face to face discussion I have noticed is that sometimes it can be difficult to "read" something like sarcasm. No harm actually meant here. As for the "attitude" remark, that stems from seeing a serious bit of "why the heck should I care what happens" running rampant over the last few years, esp. the last 4-5 years. Some people actually DO care, and end up trying to get others to pay attention to what is going on around them because of the "blanket effect" that usually follows. I didn't mean to end up turning this into a "threadjack".

Either the Explorer is a truck or it's not, it really doesn't matter in the long run. You call it what you want. There is nothing wrong with that.

I get more annoyed when people call it a jeep. Just because its a 4wd it must be a jeep. Ive owned many fords and more jeeps and they both have there pros and cons but its a ford explorer not a jeep

So the next time I see a jeep and they tell me it has an explorer 8.8 rear in it I can call theirs an EXPLORER?! The next person that calls your explorer a jeep should be pistol whipped.... just sayin is all..... THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. There may be minor similarities, but nothing that screams direct cousin.

Well jeep is considered the oldest off road utility vehicle still in production amd land rover is second. That beimg said the ford explorer is sorta like a cousin. But to cheer you up ford made some of the jeeps during wwII. but that doesnt give people a reason to call it a jeep. Did anyone see the topgear episode were they yested three cars to see how theyatch up to trucks.

Not to get too far off topic. But I remember some years ago I almost had an awkward burst of laughter moment when my dad's brother in law was talking about talking his *Truck* to the shop. The thing was, he was talking about his Scion xB. It was pretty humorous.

Funny, a friend of mine just came down for a visit and drove in my wife's Scion XB. He commented that he couldn't believe he was actually in "one of these things". He said he didn't like the styling.

My comment:

"Ron, you drive an H2 Hummer, please tell me how the XB isn't like a miniaturized, 2 wheel drive version of your H2. They're both boxes, they both have high belt line doors with stubby windows, and they are both rolling bricks aerodynamically. All I got for an answer was "uh....".

Sploder. Just say that every time you want to refer to your explorer and you wont have to worry about if it's your truck or your car or your SUV or that dirty word STATION WAGON...

O and don't give your car a girls name...

Me- "I need to go pick up Belle (not my cars name thank god) I'll be back in an hour."

Girlfriend- "WHO THE ##### IS BELLE!!!!!!"

Me- "My sploder... (see how I used that there?)"

Girlfriend- "Surrrrrrrrre! BYE!"

I'm looking at my Maryland title and it has body style as "TK" so I'm guessing truck.

I like the term "station wagon".... but I'm Old School. With the 4.0 ohv power it's not a "Sport". When I think of "Utility", I think more of a panel styled, delivery vehicle. Besides, there are alot of similarities between the Country Squirer and the Explorer. ;) Me and the wife just call it "the Explorer".
