j602's 2wd Beast

Shut your mouth. :p I actually thought about taking my camera and setting it up on top of the hill. :D The thing that sucks is, we always end up goin' wheeling at night, so I can't ever get good pics or video.

so when are you poppin a transfer case and front axle into it? then you could call it the 4wd beast. thats got to be one of the sexiest 2wd 1st gen x's i've ever seen, and it takes alot for a 1st gen to look good.

Lol, thanks. It'll go 4wd the same time it gets a solid axle (A long time from now). I'll get another DD before that happens. It will happen though! Oh, and you're gonna love that Powertrax!

Btw, I did some wheelin' tonight. :D The locker did great, and pulled me through every time, with no stickage! Woot! If the video came out allright I'll post it up.

nice.. thats good to know. i heard alot of good things about the no-slip, so thats why i got it, i'm glad to hear more positives about it. i'm jealous of your 35's and SOA. i wish i lived down south again. its so hard to get ppl to wheel with around here. get that video up soon, i want to see what a 4x2 w/ a locker can do. ohh.. and how is it around town being locked in back?

Here you go ;)

On the street, this thing is fawking INSANE! It acts no differently than my worn out limited slip. I figured I'd wheel hop like crazy around sharp turn, etc. I got none of that! I love it!

The video came out bad since it was at night and recorded with my digital camera. If I can find some way to brighten it I'll host it.

On the street, the Powertrax is insanely smooth and quiet. I can barely tell the difference over my Limited Slip, and have yet to get any wheel hop, binding, etc.

Damnit Bryan, I was already typing a response! :D Oh well....

LMFAO!

/me is too fast for j602! :D Do you have Windows Movie Maker? If not, send the video to me or download it. It has an option for "brighten" and you can click it as many times as you want to keep brightening it. It's not the highest quality, but it works pretty good when I use it. I just brightened a vid the other day from me and some friends doing a creek crossing at 10:30 at night. BTW, I don't see how the hell you can always go wheeling at night...I was doing this a few days ago and as I was pulling into my driveway, looking into my pass side mirror, all I see is my seat, then realized I smacked the mirror when I was offroad. The next morning I found my radio antenna bent back a good few inches!

Yeah, you really have to pay attention at night. It covered my side view mirrors last night, and I have no rearwiew since it fell of a few weeks ago, and I could not see anything except out the front windshield . I'll go work on that video.

Got my new hitch on. It's a Curt hidden/tube style. This thing seriously rocks. It was SO easy to put on, and the quality is incredible, not to mention it looks badass. From standing within 5 or so feet behind the vehicle, you can basically only see the receiver hole. I love it!

do u have any upclose pics of the swaybar shockmount? love that diff cover by the way. how thick is it? is it polished metal or chrome?

I can get some closeups of the shock mount if you want. It's nothing special though, just take the swaybar bolt out, move the shock over there, and put shock bolt through the shock and swaybar bracket.

The diffy cover is chrome steel. It looks like polished polished aluminum there because it's dirty from all the mud/dirt. :D It's not crazy thick, I think it's about the same thickness as the stocker. Got it off ebay new for $25. Only drawback is that I realized when putting in my locker that my gears dug a groove in the cover. So either the gears are bigger thicker, or the cover isn't deep enough.

ok i was trying to figure out how you had the swaybar on too, but i get it now. swaybars are for sissies :p just kidding. there werent any metal shavings in your gear oil when you put the locker in was there? not that i'd know anything about this stuff, but i will soon :D i think a polished aluminum would be cooler/less maintenance anyway. its a good look, leave it dirty.

Lol, I take the swaybar off if I'm gonna flex it anything serious. There were shavings in the diffy but they all collected on the magnetic fill plug. I never saw them there the first time I changed it after the gears. Polished aluminum would be cool, but I like the bling when it's clean. :D On that note, I'm thinking of herculining my blingin' bumpers. What do you guys think?

they match your diff cover right now. i'd only herculine them if there taking some serious scratches from your wheelings. but thats just me. it would complete the blackout look though and your diff cover would REALLY stick out then. so theres some plus sides too.

herculine the chrome? just get some stock black ones... shoot id sell ya my old ones if ya want, only problem is the front one needs to repainted. The rear has already been repainted but we dropped it when we first brought it out the paint booth  DOH

herculine the plastic? sounds good, i forget what we used when we painted my plastic but it was some kind of prep in a can, like an epoxy primer for plastic? i dunno worked great, still holding up today if it werent for dropping the bumper.

No! leave the chrome, it really looks good on your truck.

Well, I finally got some bump in my trunk. :D About 2 or 3 months ago, I bought 2 Infinity Reference 10's in a sealed enclosure and never got around to buying an amp and having them put in. I finally saved up the money, went to Circuit City, only to find out that they're the biggest rip off in town. $130 for a low wattage amp, $70 for the proper wire, and $60 for installation, plus tax. Bullshit. I said "No thanks", and left. I then went to Wal-Mart, bought an amp of the same wattage for $100, and a wiring kit of better quality with everything I needed for $25. I put it all in myself in about 5 hours, and saved about 150 bucks. It was pretty easy, just time consuming, but worth it. Even with a no name brand amp, this system sounds great, and hits really hard! Pic of the subs:

I also bedliner'd my rockers with spray can bedliner. I did this mainly because of having to cut my fender after bending them while jumping terraces at my buddies' house. Turned out nice, and should be more durable and easier to clean. Pic:

Thanks, I like that one too. Go to www.stylinconcepts.com, and give them a call. They can put in a custom order for you, so if Skyjacker still has anymore (which they probably do since they're the same for Rangers), then they can get you the coils only straight from the factory.
