LED Resistor Chart

maybe this will be moved to the top and made important cuz it seems to be an issue for everyone... heres a resistor chart from the back of my pack of 10-ohm, 1/4 watt, 5% tolerance resistors from radioshack

0. Black
1. Brown
2. Red
3. Orange
4. Yellow

also a picture of a color chart off the internet...

This should be useful to those who are arranging an LED board for certain lighting applications

thats the most intelligent thing ive heard all day hahaha... nice work

Now the questions that aren't there:

1) "What resistance should be applied to an LED to have it burn at a given light output and how do you determine this ?

2) How can you determine the amount to change, the rating of the resistor, to alter the light output to brighter or dimmer is you want to ?

I too use the Bad Boy Saying, a lot easier to remember...

A few sites to help out if you aren't too good at math or whatnot...

This one is a program, does all kinds of calulations. As far as I know the only reason there is a $5 version is because it looks better, not sure though..

-----

This one is online and only does the three bands and the tolerance, there's many other's out there too...

And to go with the LED subject...

LED series/parallel array wizard

-----

and another way of remembering the saying (I personally use the other one but, cause I know how some people can be offended real easily) is:

Bad
Beer
Rots
Our
Young
Guts
But
Vodka
Goes
Well

To remember the value I use:

Cover you ears if you are a young one.

Bad Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violets Give Willingly.

Look about 7 posts up, JT's post :p: lol

See, I am always about 1 year ahead of my time--:D

Do I really need to throw an age joke in here? Nah, I think I'll be nice :p:
