Well, I eventually want to lift it and go as big as 32's or 33's but im planning a trip to vegas this summer and im trying to save some money while still have a good looking ride, but i have to buy tires soon......so, i was thinking that I could have it decent looking by summer with the tbirds and possibly lift it in the fall. Its for that reason that I like the swampers. I like the look of them when mounted, but I dont know anybody personally that has them. Are they cheap or somthing?
sure, turdbirds look ok, but have NO offroad capability what-so-ever. some people claim that they have a tendency to fall apart, but I don't know anyone who has them
Like all tires, I'm sure there are some people out there that swear by turdbirds and those that swear against them
Thanks....duely noted. I think i will go with the bfg AT, or possibly the AT mud's instead, and by the way.....anybody out there know any websites or shops that sell good lift kits for cheap. I found one place online that sells a skyjacker 4" for around $700 (with shocks) and that is by FAR the cheapest i have found. Most of them are averaging around 10 to 12 hundred bucks....Help a po man out...
i have a 97 sport 4x4 with shackels/TT. will 31x11.5x15 with a 15x8 rim with 3.75" backspacing fit without any trimming? or would i need a 3" bl? i am looking at the khumo MT. thanks.
I'm running 31x10.50x15's bfg all-terrains on my explorer on stock rims with TT and add-a-leaves. I think I have room for 32"s if they will fit my rims. Check that tire size though. I don't know if they make 31"s in an 11.5 width. Other than that the tires should fit easily on offset rims and clear your fender wells. I know that add-a-leaves gave me more lift in the back than did the TT in the front. I don't know if Shackles will give as much lift in the rear as add-a-leaves.
Greg
6inch lift will clear 35x12.50 without rubbing the sheetmetal the inner plastic fenders will rub under compression while turning my brother's ranger with a 302 in it did,nt rub with 35x12.50 with 6in suspension but we put a 3 inch body lift on it a few weeks later
Please Remember when I ask this, the only stupid question is a question not asked
I read several posts from this thread and just want to ask some questions for my own personal knowledge 'cuz I am dense. I am inheiriting a '97 explorer from my dad and wanted to put some larger tires on it. I read the chart but I want to ask anyway. When putting 31x10.5 on a bone stock truck can I leave it alone or will the adjustment to the shackles and torsion bars be absolutely neccesary? How about 30x9.5s? Is that even worth it? After changing tire size what needs to be done to readjust? the speedometer and such?
Thanks

off to buy new tires tomorrow for my 99 Limited, going with BFG All Terrain tires... I know that by the chart a 31x10.5/15 will fit on the stock height, but I have 16inch wheels and the chart doesnt mention these... so my question is will 31x10.5/16 fit?

I am planning on doing the same thing possibly next summer to my '99 X. Right now I am running 255x70x16 michellin Ltx's that have 73k on them and they look like they may have 25k. I am having a ard time getting rid of good rubber though. In the end I think that I am going to get a 4" Superlift and put a 3" BL so that the 33's can really flex :exp:
I'm driving a '93 Eddie Bauer and I'm wanting to run 31x12.50's on it. I've seen alot of questions about the 31x10.50's but I just want a little wider tire. I plan on running the 12.50's on 15x10 wheels with a 3.5" backspacing, could I get away without lifting the truck or atleast with only a 1.5"-2" lift. Thanks for the help.
