Just got done changing all my interiors to white LED. I bought 100 LED's on eBay for $20, 100 resistors for $2.00, and the bread board from Radioshack for $3.00. There is A LOT more light than stock, and I think it turned out pretty well. The LED's show up purplish in the pictures, but are almost white in person, still a hint of blue.

It's not too hard. Buy the LED's, resistors, and breadboard. Cut the breadboard to size. Cut the legs of the LED's and resistors to size. Put the LED legs through the breadboard, negative legs on one side, positive on the other. For each LED you'll need a resistor. Solder a leg of the resistor to either leg of the LED. I did + for all mine. The other legs of the resistor solder a wire (I actually used picture hanging wire). For the unused legs of the LED's do the same thing. You've got your - and + wires now, just gotta hook them up and you're good to go.

I just put them in rows. I guess I should've taken pics before I put the boards in so you could see the tops and bottoms. Here's a pic.

are they pretty bright? i was thinking i would put more on each board but then i remembered that they are probably pretty friggen bright

SUPER bright. I would've put more (I still have like 50 left) but with the resistors on there it just doesn't leave much room. These light up the whole inside, and no disgusting yellow, so I'm happy with them.

I am gonna try this since I have an extra over head console. I guess all I need to do is go to Radio Shack and tell them what I want to do and they can hook me up. Then the rest will be up to me. Can't hurt trying.

How did you hook up the + and- wires, and what resistors did you use?

I used picture-hanging wire for + and -. Worked perfectly. 470 ohm resistors.

May I suggest you tape off the LCDs and spray the breadboard silver or black so you don't see it? It looks awsome, other than my eyes noticing the brownish breadboard...

You only need 1 resistor per LED. Put the resistors on + or -, don't mix. Other than that you've got it down.

i know oznium.com sells leds for .39 cents each with 5 cents for the resistors if anyone dosnt wanna order 100 of them or whatever. Bright as hell too. I think if i fix my transmission i might just be doing this mod

Yeah I think the mcd is something to do with the brightness. It doesn't mean you'll be getting that full-time mcd number. That's just the max you can get. I bought the 5000 because the SportTrac guy bought the same ones, and his install was amazing. I bought the resistors for under $2.00 shipped on eBay for 100. The resistors I bought might've been overkill, so I'm thinking that's why mine have a little more blue in them than his. I'm still very happy over stock though.
