Well, since they gave me a whole whopping $4500 for Blackjack, I decided to pay off some bills and snag the cheapest and most reliable Ford I could find. Rookie and Skunk were none too happy about having to ferry me through NYC and halfway out onto Long Island, but I convinced them that we needed a road trip. I, for one, was grateful to get away for a weekend from the depressing hunk of metal that used to be my beautiful Explorer.

So lookie what $2550 will get you: A 2000 manual Focus Zx3 with 75,000 miles that has tons of New York rust! YAYYY! :p: In actuality, she's a pretty nice little car, lol. She needed new brakes front and rear, bearings, a valve cover gasket, tensioner pulley and a serpentine belt. I'm replacing the timing belt too just because I can and it probably needs to be done anyway. Don't mind the hood and bumpers: apparently a tree attacked her during the last ice storm and the previous owner preferred to use the insurance money to repaint his kitchen  She'll be getting paint as soon as I get some $ scraped up. I'm quite happy with the 30mpg she's been getting ;)

All that for 2.5k? Wow thats a steal!

sweet little car! Are you gonna get bit by the sport compact bug now?

That is a good deal for a car you really needed right now-

but a body kit?

How in the heck are you going to get the 347 into that thing?

Cool little car...

Just don't rice it or I'll have to come down there and "fix" it...:D:D:D

Fish bowl does look nice :D

Does anyone else see another Jefe in the making?

BWAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! :D I'd try Hell's Revenge in a second with my Fungus if I lived closer

Since you've got names for all your vehicles...

is this the "Hocus Focus" for the "Focus Pocus" ?

(or some "other" variant on the last one....:D:D:D)

As Skunk said.. Its too small to be a tank so its a bowl.

Holy Chit!!!
A 347 Focus for real!!!!

I say do it!!

They have a 5.0 cammer swap kit out for focus's. Makes for a sick sleeper.

Shut yer face, Ben.

No Jeff, this one doesn't have a name. I jokingly refer to it as "shorty" (for obvious reasons: it's been almost 12 years since I had a car to 'fall' into). I don't think I'm going to give any more vehicles names...giving an object a name implies that you have a connection with said object. It's just a car, and I hope it'll protect me in a worst case scenario in exchange for me keeping it in great shape, just like its predecessor did. Hopefully me referring to it as 'she' is just a cutesy, hey-I've-got-a-new-car phase that will go away.

wow, how.....practical...

Honestly, I like it. The upkeep and MPG has got to be great on a vehicle like that.

Ehh, I dunno about upkeep- so far I've dished out almost $400 in replacement parts and I'm looking at another $200 in brakes and possibly more for new axleshafts and/or bearings :( Get what ya pay for, right...

Hopefully I won't have to do any of this again for quite a few years, though!

(Oh, and the Steeda kit looks awesome: very much like an SVT. Unfortunately I won't be able to put it on for a while, at least until I can afford paint for the hood and bumper, too)

Hey Matt!! How's it going? Haven't heard from ya in a while!!

COME TO THE DARK SIDE!!!!

As much as i make fun of em, the Focus is a great little car.
Seems like she deeded a little tlc, but im sure once you get the lack of maintenece bugs out of her youll have a dependable little car to run around in. much better than commuting in Morgan IMO
