Los Coyotes - Labor Day Weekend!

Okay, I just called, and they are open. Only two trails are closed from the fire, still plenty of trails to have fun!

To get there from I-15, go east on 79 all the way to Warner Springs. Check a map for a clearer picture.:)

What trails are closed?

Matt

Marshmellow Hill and Old Mine Rd. The two easternmost rails. Sorry you won't be there, Matt.

Los Coyotes Directions

Los Coyotes Indian Reservation: From 91 take 15 South to Temecula/Rancho California Exit -79 SOUTH INDIO it's more like East. (the freeway sign says south) Continue past Aguanga Ranchitos RD. which is 19 miles into the canyon, until you hit Warner Springs Ranch. Gas up because that is the only station around. Turn left on Camino San Ignacio and follow the line until you hit the entrance/gate (Don't be late on Sunday's they close at 1pm) You will get a map of the trails with your $15 fee, which is good to 4PM, I think I have the Entrance GPS coordinates and a few other ones let me know if you want them?
We should also establish a time, CB channel (like 21) and a staging area in the main camp, around the 2nd Big tank. What do you all think? These are just ideas…

FYI

The San Diego 4 Wheelers club is having an event down there this weekend. My best friend told me when I had invited him. Anyway, what time and where are we meeting, I heard it's a big place.

How about 9am Sunday? About 3.5 miles from the toll gate, is the second water tank (main camp area)there are outhouses water faucets and even a swing set and slide in the area, we can stage in that area.

Jason, sounds like you've been there before! ;) What trails do you like?
9AM sounds perfect for me, as does the meeting point.

Yes i have last year, same exact day. I went with the wife and kid so i was limited to a half day. I did meet a couple of other guys on the trail that knew the place very well, I think they'll be camping again this year. They took us up to 4 Corners through Dangerous Road down to Quiet Road. I jumped in to his toyota and did Jeep Squeeze because it's a little too much for my truck, though his had no lift but 2 lockers. then we looped around to Rough Road and back to camp. We were also going to go to the Hot Springs look out tower but we ran out of time.

Just got the email today for the run this Sun. and i'll go for sure. I got a handheld CB, channel 21 sounds good to me.
If anyone is going to Los Coyotes by way of the 10 out in Palm Springs area i live in La Quinta so if you wanted to caravan from there let me know.

Email me: db1_one@yahoo.com

Anyone from Riverside area can Caravan w/ Me

Hey DB, just looking at the map, it looks like you would be WAY better off taking the 74 to 371 to 79. Have you checked a map?

Eeekkk,

Does that change my directions as well?

Yup RangerX, you're right...didn't realize realize i was closer than i thought if i took 74.

While i'm looking at a map Xplodor, looks like your best bet would be to take 15 to 79

Los Coyotes Sunday 9am by 2nd water tank

Great sounds like we have about 5 rigs...

I hope me and xplodor can roll together and I hope he knows where we're going cuz I have no idea. I have been to warner springs a few times though and I know where the gas station is...

AAAHHh hell! I can't come on sunday morning anymore. I forgot I have scuba class till 4pm in costa mesa. Are you guys staying over or just going out for the day??

Can't cancel class? We can caravan if you'd like.

Email me and I'll give you my cell number.

I may be up for this as long as my Exploder survives tonight at Ocotillo Wells. Anyone interested in that I'll be out there around 8ish tonight (Friday). We're camping on main st. right by the bathrooms. There'll be an enclosed trailer, my Explorer, a silver F150, and maybe a white f/s chevy. We're just going for the night.

Anyways, what's the meeting time for the LCIR run? Are you guys thinking for just the day or what? You guys are talking Sunday, right?

Khris
