low/high sametime w/o britebox

Any quick mod to make the low beam stay on with my high's? Without the use of the britebox? Is there a writeup somewhere?

If you run a direct relay for your headlights like found here: http://ford.off-road.com/ford/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=198401
Then you could also add a wire running from the high beam on the old headlight harness that isn't used in that diagram, and tapped into pin 85 on the low beam relay (the light blue wire in the diagram).

In your 98 with 9007 series bulbs the wire on the passenger's side of the headlight bulb harness is the high beam, the middle is ground, and the driver's side wire is low beam.

Instead of pushing the lever forward, you can just hold it backwards. No modifications needed.

I've held mine back for a couple hours on end. It doesn't really bother me, I sometimes forget I am holding it

Just splice in a diode between the High and Low beam wires.

I don't even know what a diode is... would I have to do it on both lights? And wouldn't that get rid of my low beams completely?.. Like wouldn't it make the headlights low/high on anytime they're on?

Ok, nvm, I read a little bit on diodes, is there any certain type I need? And, would I need to do it on both lights or just one? How do I know which way to turn the diode?.. I also read a diode is only good for 1.4-1.7 volts..

The 9004 is correct. But the 9007 has the high and low beams reversed.

How sure are you? Could you find another diagram?

I'm as sure as the fact that 3 days ago I finished converting my bulbs from 9004's to 9007's and had to change those wires. I was going to try to do a write up in the next week or so on it.

Alright, I see now... so any information that might help me with the diode thing?
What type? Do I have to do it to both lights or just one? (I'm not sure how the wire harness is setup)

I just tried the diode thing on my ex, i blew a fuse.

From what I read, diodes can only handle 1.4-1.7v.. which isn't enough for the 12v current obviously.. I may be wrong.. but.. that's my understanding of it atm..

I used a 200 volt, 1 amp diode. No, I removed the diode before installing a new fuse. Lights did not work after removing diode, checked the fuse and replaced it.
