Good luck on the alternator. I have only tried two 200+ units, one not good and the last works fine in stock app. The 4G doesn't have a lot of aftermarket choices. I'm wishing to be able to modify the 4G bracket to accept a 3G alternator, the aftermarket has tons of choices for those.

There are a few choices on ebay for a higher amp alternator. The one I have coming has a 1 year warranty from BNR and they have 99.9% positive feedback on 82k items sold.

It should be a good one.

I blew 3 alternators with the smaller pulley on my 5.0 ranger after my cam swap raised my shift point to 6k. Put the stock sized pulley on it and never had another issue. Like clockwork around 5500 the battery light would come on and stay on.

I got a good alternator, but still had problems with it not charging and it appeared to be only doing it when hot. I cut a little metal tab to slide into the fuse holder to check continuity of the yellow hot lead. When I went to insert it I found the left side of the number 15 Alternator fuse holder had been pushed down. The left side of the blade was riding on top, not inside the holder and not making good contact. I could see the plastic of the fuse heating-up and allowing less or no contact. The fuse was flashed as well and should have been my first clue. I had that fuse in and out a couple times! I cleaned it up with an emery board. I went ahead and checked wires for continuity from the fuse box to cluster and cluster to alternator while wiggling the wires and all was good. It's charging again and I think that was it.

I got to get it out more and do some testing. I may need or want to run the 12.5% overdrive pulley on the alternator. This engine does not see over 5,000rpm so I don't think it will overrev/charge.

I need a break from projects, back yard is landscaped, porch paved, and we hope to get back out to play a bit now that we have the rig back. I may, one day get back to adding the spray and tuning.

I purchased a hand built alternator from the former Carolina Alternators. The owner was a great guy and had read here the same in some posts from many years ago.

My rig is not running. It was missing and progressively got worse. It is a fueling issue and got bad enough it's dumping fuel and dangerous. I suspect the EEC or Tuner/Tweecer. The starter went as I was trying to diagnose and fix it. It's time to be done with it. I don't want to spend the time with it and want a newer F150 4x4 regular cab short bed with a Coyote.

I am going to part it out. I will list what I got in the classifieds here and work through Ebay to sell the blower kit. I'll watch my PM's here. I very much appreciate this forum and y'alls help through the years!!!!!!

Dang that's sad news. :(

Sorry to see ya go

Thx gents, I got mixed feelings about it. I have enjoyed it but I have made my decision.

A Coyote in the smallest F150 should be fun enough and work a bit better for My lady and I at this point. We were able to get her a 23 Santa Fe AWD with 2.5 turbo. It is loaded, fast and comfortable. The old X would not get used but for towing and forest/BLM roads. The F150 may tow a boat or a bigger camper at some point as well............................................

I pulled the blower, but that will be it for a week or two.

I am moving fast on the blower, listed on Ebay for F150/Bronco.

I do have the lower intake, idler pulley and most importantly the crank balancer modified with added pulley to run this on an Explorer. They are included free here to anyone who wants to buy it on Ebay to run it on their X.

Just because you're starting a new project doesn't mean you have to leave the explore forum all together we can check out the new project too

Thought I'd post the combo crank balancer/pulley/supercharger pulley and a shot of the engine with F150 lower manifold. As posted above I will include them to anyone who wants to run this on an Explorer from this forum and purchases the blower off ebay. I also have a few things that would help the install that could be arranged as well...............................If the kit sells to an F150/Bronc owner I will have this available for someone to run with a centrifugal blower.

Thanks!

Best wishes and I hope things go to other good people.

What extra Kenne Bell pulley sizes might you have? Recall I was figuring I might be lucky to only need a 3.1" size, but might have to use a 3.5" or 3.25" possibly?

The crank pulley is 6.5"

I have committed the blower pulley's with the blower sale at this point. We'll see if it sells this Saturday.

I drove an awesome, regular cab, short bed, f150, with Coyote. Nice but I didn't like the largeness of even the smallest full size truck. I'll be around. I am not going anywhere here but to the 5th generation Explorer forum. I found a 2017 3.5 Ecoboost with only 62,000 miles and put a deposit down. They will work out a couple little things with the vehicle and I should pick it up next week!

The blower auction ends this evening. I hope it goes, mixed feelings, but my body and old back tell me I've made a good decision to move on with something newer others can work on for me. I don't like to admit it, but I need some help.

Did not sell yet so I reposted it with the Explorer stuff and added injectors, 90mm Lightning MAF, high volume/pressure Walbro fuel pump and a new in box wideband.
