So Steve, not sure where the disconnecting the iPod comes into play with you. Brandmotion install guide and accessories allow you to clip a special iPod holder (they even have different foam pieces to fit the different iPods) into your glove box. You can simply slide the iPod into the craddle and away you go. When you want to listen to the satellite, you simply slide it out of the craddle. I usually just flip it around so the iPod won't settle into the dock connector, but stays in place in the holder. I didn't want to have to reach into the glove box each time, so I installed mine in the armrest console which works perfect for me. To access music you have a few choices by category, artist, album, and playlist (there could be one or two more but I don't remember). You select how you want to listen to music, i.e. artist, album, playlist and then scroll through to the particular one you want. The issue is if you want to listen to an artist that starts with a M, do you go A to M or Z to M, either way, through all your artists which can take a while. The easiest thing to do is create a playlist and scroll to that. You can shuffle songs, within the category or within the whole iPod. There are a few hiccups with the system: 1) if you pick a song on the iPod and then put it in the holder, most likely you won't get that song, rather it will select the 1st song on the iPod. If you are jamming to an artist, turn your car off, and then come back, sometimes it resets back to the 1st song on your iPod. A few hiccups, not the end of the world. If you plan on using this for road trips and drives of 30 minutes or more, I recommend. If you are going to use it whiel you are in and out of your car doing errands, not as much.
