Alright, Trans-Go shift kit is going in on Monday, which setting should I have them put it on? Police/Taxi/Mild Hot Rod or the Street Rod blah blah

Fine.. Here... this is what it says..:

1. Police-taxis-truck & Mild Street Rod
2. Hot Rod with original converter
3. Hot Rod and street use with original converter

I'm thinking the Police/Taxi would be ideal for my fairly stock truck:
Mac Intake
Mac Catback
90 Octane SCT tune
TMH [Soon]

I want my shifts quick n firm, but not so much I hear the wheels chirp every time it shifts.
Any suggestions??

Also, Missing a bolt from my transmission mount... do I have to take apart the torsion bar adjuster bolt things to get that middle cross member off? What all do I have to do? Hold the tranny up by a jack, unbolt everything... do the reverse of removal??????......

Choose the shifting quality based on the kind of driving and feel that you like. I think that you want good firm shifts, I would select the firmest then. TransGo does not make really harsh shifting kits, especially the part throttle shifting. The shifts will feel much softer or sedate at part throttle versus WOT. Some other companies have been bad about having kits with harsh part throttle shifts. What you have will not do that, so choose the firmness based on WOT tastes. I'm about to do mine also, I'll keep an eye on this with you. Regards,

Well like... I can't sit here and test out each setting.. what's the difference? How much different is one setting to the other? All I know is I want it to shift like it should.. =\
Quick, Firm, perhaps give me that lead when it shifts.. lol... Idk....

This is going to be interesting though, that's for sure. I can't find much about people putting in shift kit's into their 5.0L Explorer/Mountaineers.

We're pioneers...

Ok ok.. I'm just talkin **** now... anyways... moving on..

I don't know what I want, the stock shifts suck bad though.

You guys are going to break my neck... lol..

Are there any videos showing one of these at the firmest?

I had read awhile back, that with firming up the shifts... you can do it too much and wear transmission internals... Anymore information would be appreciated.

Firm it up-you'll be fine. Don explained it well in his post. Read it again--slowly. Read it until you understand it.

You will not get "rock hard" shifts with this transmission. But you can increase the shifting speed, and shorten the duration of the shift. Firm --all the way.

Mine is, and my neck isnt even sore.

Alright, That's what I'll tell them then.. Firm as possible with my current configuration in mind. As for the other kit, I had done lots of research and the Trans-go sounded the best for me. There's no going back now, I have the kit in my hands as we speak.

If the firmest is the best, how come there's setting less than the most firm?... =\ It's really about personal preference I guess?

Btw, Jtsmith.. I will be putting in Amsoil as you suggested awhile ago, I finally found a local dealer.

If the firmest is the best, why would the police have a setting which is worse?

The choices are to cover a lot of people who really are used to soft seamless shifts. That kit is applicable to any vehicle with that transmission. It vastly improves all shift characteristics, not just WOT.

With the PCM tuning there is also room for fine tuning, if you want it softer/firmer afterwards. I'm going to make mine the firmest that they can be, I have it that way in my 95 Crown Vic. It would chirp both rear tires sometimes in that car, but I needed to change some of the shift solenoids and didn't know it then.

So the Hot Rod option would be the one to choose? Is that the firmest?

Anyone have any info on changing the transmission mount? I can't find any write-ups or much info.

Is it really as easy as it seems? Take the crossmember off while the tranny is jacked up... unbolt everything, change the mount.. put the crossmember back on?

Yes the trans mount should be no trouble. It's easy if you can pull the bolts that let the mount or cross member slide out the back. That way the trans doesn't need to be lifted really.

The shifting options will be on the sheet from softest to firmest.

If I go get the part from Ford, do I get all the bolts and nuts needed to fully replace the mount? Or what do I do... arg

Alright, Truck is at the shop, told them to make it as firm as possible. Removed my front drive shaft, that cv joint like... exploded... anyways... waiting on a new one right now. Should be interesting...

God, this truck is so weird with 2WD..

Transmission mount, I bought a bolt and put it in... wouldn't go in all the way.. so it's just sitting there keeping everything lined up and in place........ Got the bolt from Ford... idk why it won't go all the way in...

What's weird about 2wd? I love the way it drives like that, but I would go through a set of tires in no time, and would be afraid of forgetting to set the e-brake and having it roll away.

Yea... It's fun but... odd..... Did I mention it snowed last weekend? 2WD right now, is a poor choice.

Yeah that wouldn't be to fun in the snow, right now I can't even keep traction in the rain with the AWD:( This winter is going to suck

Nice. Front drive-shaft is in, I just need to pick it up and install it. Waiting for the tranny shop to get done now.

Anyone know about this? :::

Apparently my tranny's fluid pressure control is controlled by the computer and since my tune maxed that out, this kit will do almost nothing????? We'll see.

The VB kit will make a big difference, even with a PCM tune. You should love it, the down shifts are much more responsive, and take less throttle to make it happen.
