Really close now. Just need to put the spark plugs & wires in, add antifreeze & p/s fluid, and get the initial timing set. Should be firing it up tomorrow.
Also still have to put the hood on, re-install the Monte-Carlo bar and adjust the clutch.
It's alive!! Runs like a top!! I've still got a couple things to fix like a small p/s pump leak and re-routing the spark plug wires (just tossed them on to get it running).
It scared the crap out of me earlier. Got it fired up and broke the cam in, then took it for a test drive. Brought it back into the garage to adjust the timing and shut down the motor. Went to start it back up and it won't start. Ok..I thought the battery was a little iffy and it wouldn't start when I put my quick starter on it. Pushed it out into the driveway to bump start it, and when I popped the clutch, the rear wheels just slid.. OMG...the motor is locked up!!!! Pushed it back into the garage and pulled the plugs to see if it got hydrolocked somehow..no go. Put it in gear and rocked it back and forth, and now the motor want's to move. Hit the starter again and it turns over...phew.
Turns out the negative battery cable is bad, and when I went to start it, the starter engaged the flywheel and stuck there.... THANKFULLY it runs great now...
