new here but old mechanic .im trying to figure something out

i have this 2011 ford ranger its a fx4 the trans is smoked i also have a have a trans fron a 98 ford explorer 4x4 with same engine and trans but there is one less sensor on it the input speed sensor. would it be possiable to use a older trans on a newer truck?

You cannot use a 98 trans no because your 2011 has two speed sensors
The second sensor was added in 2002
You can use a 5r55e from 02-11 ranger, sport or sport trac in your b4000
