Hey everyone! First off, I want to say this site is extraordinary... This is a great place for Explorer owners, the best. I'm new to this forum but not new to Fords in any way. My first Ford was an 89' Ranger 2.9L 4x4..lifted 9" on 35's. An absolute great truck as well as my first vehicle. May she forever R.I.P. My current Ford is a 96' XLT 4x4. I will have to say I miss the TTB suspension up front like my Ranger had but oh well. It ate up the inside of the tires. My Explorer currently has no mods and has over 240,000 miles on the stock motor... You heard correct.. 240,000 miles on the stock motor. No knocking or pinging. I've replaced the transfer case and I just replaced the tranny about 1,000 miles ago. It was slipping more than a greased up fat lady down bowling alley. I also replaced the upper and lower ball joints. I change the oil every 3,500 miles. When these motors are taken care of they will run forever. I plan to add some mods hear pretty soon... dual cat back exhuast, cold air intake, 30"x11.50 Super Swamper Thornbirds... the usual. I'm going to run the motor till she lets go because until then I have no reason to rebuild it. However when I do rebuild it I want to throw in a 4.5L stroker kit and a good tune. I love working on engines. If I'm not tooling around on my vehicle I'm working on someone elses or hunting or fishing. Anyways, those are the basics.. I'm pretty knowledgable and I'll try to help out whenever I can. It's great to be here. Thanks again.

Thornturds aren't my cup of tea,:

I've always had a liking for Thornbirds. They have a look like no other tire and they perform great then those side lugs dig in. They discontinued the white letter version so I am left with the task of painting the letters myself. Thanks for the welcome guys.

Now you're the first person I've heard say they perform well.

For about $100 including shackles and torsion twist followed with an alignment, you could lift it just about 2" and get 31s to fit nicely. :)

Shackles are on the way... keeping the 30's though. I've also got a 94' XLT 4x4 that I want to put 9 inches on in the near future. My buddy owns a junk yard and they had a totalled out 93' XLT that I'm taking the lift off of. Gonna go with 35" TSL's on that one.
