Is the oil level sensor also called an oil sender unit? I have been looking everywhere for an oil level sensor for the left hand side of my oil pan.

Yeah thats right - its not really an oil level sensor or indicator. Its just an on/off pressure switch sensor that says whether or not the oil pump is feeding adequate oil pressure. So the oil level gauge on the dash will display the same level whether or not the oil level is properly filled or if its overfilled by 2 quarts - as long as the oil pump is sucking up oil.

There are 2 separate "oil senders"

One is an "oil level" sender on the driver ( left) side of the oil pan, with a single wire. It triggers a "check engine oil" light when the engine oil level drops very low.

the other single wire sender is as Iz stated pressure sender--switch. It activates the oil gauge on the dash--but is unreliable for accuracy of pressure.

It actually triggers the "oil" light on the bottom of the custer, sepearte from the CEL.

The oil "pressure" switch is on the side of the block, on a fittiing near the power steering pump and motor mount.

Forget it. I have searched everywhere for the part and no one seems know anything about it.

This thread is old . If it was a child it would be failing fourth grade remotely via zoom right now.

Everywhere but the Under the Hood Forum where this is a link from the top of the page:

Just frustrated. Right now, I'd reply to Methuselah if I could find a solution to my problem.
