FYI...just installed a new Optima Yellow Top battery. With it came group 65 hold down adapters. They worked perfectly for a seamless, clean fit.

Have not seen these adapters mentioned before, so I though someone might like to know about them if planning on buying an Optima. Mike

Black Magic has one. Not quite sure if its the same as what you're talking about. Got any pictures of yours?

Sorry, no pics. Just bought a new digital camera & software. Ass soon as I learn to use it..what out!

The hold downs are plastic/composite, made by Optima, and fit into the slots on the long side of battery footprint, enlarging the footprint width to match the width of a group 65 OE battery for Ford Explorers. Two come in a kit and the OE hold down locks over the Optima part. The other part fits on the oppsite side, which lets it slide under the Explorer's battery case lip, holding/locking that side down. Hard to explain, but it works! Mike

Black Magic has a custom aluminum hold down. The items Mike is referring to are available from Optmia and are used to make the battery wider so it fits in the stock Ford battery tray. I wish they had them when I put my Optmia in, but its too late now. :( Anyone planning to install an Optmia battery make sure you ask for the adapters.
