I was told daytime photos would be coming soon. I also asked him to send more detailed shots of the suspension and steering.

I like the bit about the ghosts... That's pretty funny.

Sounds like you are trying to impress the girls again.....:D :p

We have got to get some close ups and some sort of a write up on this!!!
The height on that is perfect!!
please post any and all info!!!

Pics on the way... he is painting the exo cage, and some other things, today or tomorrow it will finally done, I hope so, or maybe I will go to the place where the X is...

definetely need a write-up since there are already 3 or 4 of us that have been considering this in the neer future.

Looks like the leafs were fairly strait forward. I was thinking of some form aof a coil over but the leafs may be the way to go. What would be the big advantage/disadvantage?

Coil over would probably require more fabrication, but what would be the pros and cons to having one versus the other?

what about a front sway bar? For those of us planning on driving daily with it won't that be a necesity? I wonder if the rear one for and X would mount up front?

dont think youd need that with a solid axle. i think your shocks and spring rate are going to have a bigger effect on sway than adding a bar.

Yep you could just run some rancho 9000s and turn them all the way stiff while on the street.

Yeah but what is that going to do to ride quality?

Is there a big dif in ride quality between leafs, and coil over?

bad ass!

ok.. i have to go answer that "whose explorer is your favorite" thread now...

Yes. Have someone drive your Explorer while you go sit in the back cargo area over your rear leaf springs as they go over a few train crossings and such. Note the difference from the feel up front near your front suspension. A coilover would be more complicated but also smoother.

I'm guessing those guys in Argentina don't have to worry too much how it rides on the interstate freeway for hundreds of miles :D

They did do an awesome job on the mod. Just think how parts availability down there is and etc. Incredible. I want to meet these guys. :bounce:

Where are from Venezuela, not from argentina ;)

yeah, a lot of the "interstate" down there is probably no more than a dirt road... where it is more of a trail than street like us spoiled guys up here have

Sorry to dissapoint you, but we have "interstate" and no dirt roads, there are some unexplored roads and some dirt road totally away from civilization, YES I said CIVILIZATION, we have cars and stuff, we are not indians pulled by a horse...;)

ok sorry..i didnt mean to insult you. i just figured that where you are wasnt that advanced. my friend spent 2 years in brazil on his mission and said the towns there were ghetto..... one power line and everybody spliced an extension cord into it and all the houses used that one extension cord to power everything

how much lift dude? how does it ride? is the front locked?

anybody know of a good shop in n. cali that does quality suspension work beside 4 wheel parts?

soupbone, there was a place in union city that did customs but i think they went under, one day they were there the next they werent..... and a guy that used to work there now works at 4 wheel parts lafayette st store in santa clara... i bet there are a few places around here though... i know there are some underground jeep places...... may have to use some of my peolpe networking skills.....

dude i work a few blocks from the santa clara store heh.... ill be on the lookout

Yeah, how do the springs ride on the road? And how much lift over factory did it get?

I still plan on doing it in a while, but I am still in the planning stages now. If I can get a decent ride with the leafs then that looks like the easiest way to go (only suggesting less custom fab not saying it will be easy). However if the ride will be significantly different I might go coils.

I wouldn't think flex would be too different between leafs and coils if I do it right? What is the big difference between coils and a coil over?

I hope this is the appropriate place to be asking this stuff and I am not asking too much at once.
