RC has some tight trails but its not all tight trails. I've seen pretty big (and crazy) rigs there.

Last time Paraphoe, Dan, Draper, SurealNJ, and I were there, there was this crazy full size diesel pickup extra-cab contraption, with its rear axle moved forward just a bit sitting on some very large tractor tires.

Was that the thing on the trailer in the staging area? I remember that sumbitch. :D

Yeah that was it!

I've been doing some research on where we were and the legality of it:

1) We were in Lacey Twp, not Barnegat as the ticket says. How do we PROVE that we were in Lacey?? Because that would instantly render the ticket void...

2) According the the NJ DEP's website, http://www.nj.gov/dep/fgw/wmaregs.htm, registered motor vehicles are allowed during daylight hours in Wildlife Management Areas, we were in the "Forked River Mountain Preserve," as seen on the signs and in a map viewable here: http://www.nj.gov/dep/fgw/pdf/wmamaps/forked_river_mountain.pdf

man,i tell ya if the west coast wasnt so far away id like to go there and have some fun,i seen some nice pics from the west coast of people wheelin out there,i know there is a few good places down south too but once again too far,i may go back into site x and ride the trails and see what all is there cause i looked on google earth and the big open area we were in,there is another one right behind it,and another right next to that one

only thing i can think of aaron is try to see it on a map, like in a map book or something that shows the county or township lines,or even ask a cop over there

Arron, I remember the ranger saying that the tree row to the left of the trail was the boundry between the counties. To late for me because I paid the ticket also.

Motor Vehicles

No person shall operate an unregistered vehicle on roads under the control of the Division of Fish and Wildlife. All motor vehicles are restricted to established public roads and parking areas...

"Established Parking Area" certainly defines the pit we were in...

ive been searchin but if any of you's come across a lift for a 90-94 explorer.let me know,i wanna put a lift on my truck and throw some 33's on it,i know right now i can put 31's on it,im thinkin on ordering a grille guard that covers the headlights also, but gotta check my funds, its kinda hard 2 get extra cash,i got 3 kids

The following are prohibited: camping, swimming, picnicking, dumping, cutting or damaging vegetation, alcoholic beverages and fires.

it sure doesnt say "off roading prohibited" lol

Aaron:
To prove we were in Lacey you can try and pull up Google earth and get that lat/long for where we were. See if those coordinate fall in Barnegat's limits or not. I don't know if this would work but it may be worth a try.

PARTIAL STORY OF PARAGON ADVENTURE PARK:

http://petitionspot.com/petitions/savePAP/ (My name's on there somewhere)

Before they all but went under Paragon had a **** load of land. Comparable in size to that of Rausch Creek.

The two parks only being about 40 mins apart were sorta competitors to each other. However Paragon had a few special "selling points" like classes on familiarizing you with your rig, basic wheeling, recovery etc. (beginer, intermediate, advanced)

Just before the close up they added a small shelter pit/garage area for reapirs. They had an annual j**p:roll: meet.

It was a nice place, I was going to go with my old '98 to their "Save Paragon" event to raise money for their efforts to fight the landlord. Over 350 rigs showed up for the cause.

The full thread of their eventual MAJOR downsizing is over 70 pages/1,400 posts long:

From when the news first "leaked"

QUOTE:
Before the rumor mill starts to fly. We want to be up front with all our customers and supporters. Currently Paragon and PCA Corporation (land owner) is in legal dispute over our lease agreement for this property. We have done everything within our powers to honor our agreements with the land holding company, but they are trying to evict us from the premesis so they can sell the property. We are still in business and will remain in business as long as possible and we are fighting this with every measure available.

We know the next question is how can you help. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything you can do. We would however, appreciate everyone's hopes and prayers for a good outcome.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kyle & Stephanie Knosp (they're the "owners")

QUOTE: - I got a kick outta this post:

The closing of paragon would be horrific to the riders of central New jersey, among other states. Anyone from Jersey can back me up on this, Jersey has but one legal park to ride and anywhere you try to enjoy this sport illegally only ends up with tickets and fines which are then paid to a state that allots us no where to ride.

I can't find any of the old newspaper articles, only partials:

hey Aaron, thanks for digging up all those facts

I feel much better knowing I didn't un-intentionally lie to you guys. Everything you've posted is practically verbatim of what other rangers told me. Hence the reason i can not for the life of me understand how you guys all got "going off trail" tickets....

I sure would consider that sand pit area as part of the trail and/or a parking area..

Furthermore, wtf didn't that guy just give you warnings? It doesn't add up...

Especially since were were all VERY cooperative, had no beer, etc. We were nice little boys to Mr. Ranger.

...Furthermore, wtf didn't that guy just give you warnings? It doesn't add up...

It doesn't, and I'm still trying to figure it all out. The $74 doesn't bother me, but what can we do to prevent another over-zealous ticket writer from tagging us the next time we're out? That's my goal here. (Not paying the $74 would be a nice bonus, though...)

Anyone know a lawyer who could give some pro-bono advice about the whole "proof of township" issue?

Especially since were were all VERY cooperative, had no beer, etc. We were nice little boys to Mr. Ranger.

That's right. The Ranger even said we we behaved much better than "most of the other people I've dealt with" or something like. Basicly he understood we knew we somehow messed up and were willing to work with him instead of against him.

I say it was either the choper or plane or those people in the Rover that got us in the first place.

Even I bottomed out a lot at RC. I sometimes wish I had a Sport for the shorter wheelbase. My underside of my truck took a BEATING at Rausch.

Your telling me, I was the smallest guy there. I know I tweaked my rear bumper a tiny bit in the mud pit, and I can't even remember where I lost my auxiliary backup light... All I remember is someone saying something along the lines of "I hope you didn't need that". My torsion bar plates took a few hits as well as the frame going over those little hills. A set of 33's would have been nice, but now I can always say that my driving skill got me through  and some good spotting.. This group needs to get together again soon so I can join in the fun next time.

Dan

he could have just gave us warning and let us go on our way,but he probably didn't get laid that night or get his morning ******** so he was having a bad day and gave us all a 74.00 fine, cause he could have very easily said i am just gonna give you guys a warning being that we didn't get caught wheelin by him,we were all standing around, cause he came off as a dick at first but the longer he was there the nicer he got

I can't even remember where I lost my auxiliary backup light... All I remember is someone saying something along the lines of "I hope you didn't need that".

I think that was Draper. Hahahahahaha

hey everyone sorry i didn't make this trip, he to do emergency repairs to a friend's car and also have a couple small issues with the truck to get worked out, i will most likely be down for the next one though (provided i don't have to pay any tickets), Matt, if you see this don't forget im following you to carlisle this year, although i'll be parking with FTW

as far as other parks go, i've only been to raush creek with myy dirt bike but i have heard good things about truck trails there, Paragon was by far the best in the area however i don't think its open anymore due some BS about building a cargo airport, NJORVP-i go there all the time with my dirtbike but i don't believe they have truck trails there, never seen any that i can remember, their current location is scheduled to close in august, however i have been told that they have 2 other locations to choose from that they can reopen on (although plenty of tree huggers are still trying to fight them

great pics from everyone, to fellow who hydrolocked, don't feel too bad, i did it once too, i was lucky i had enough momentum to get out the other side and therefore didn't get wet, and paraphoe, i would have shat myself if i ever leaned my truck over that far, amazing man!
