Planning a 5.0 Overhaul

We used a scan tool at O'Reily's a while back to check the alternator and it's working properly. Two weeks ago I took the cam synchronizer out again and used the alignment tool to put it back in. Still getting the P1309 code. Any ideas? It seems to be aligned right because it's not back firing and power feels good.

I still say try another alternator. I cannot find the thread right now, but I do remember this happening once before. It was also a 2 wire cam sensor.

Heck, even a junk yard alternator might work.
Something about a slight electrical "noise" from the voltage regulator-bridge rectifier section of the alternator is how I remember it. Even though the alternator is passing clean enough dc to "charge" there may still be an AC ripple in this charge voltage signal, causing the code.

If you had an oscilloscope you could probably see the ripple.
