Currently, on my 1996 4.0, I have stock exhaust piping, but with no muffler, running straightpipes. Now, I am looking to change to dual exhaust, but cannot figure out where the other pipe should run down the other side. If somebody could show me pictures or explain how to run to the other side, that would be great. Also, I am running the duals more for looks than performance, so if you know a good way to run over to the other side from the area of the stock muffler, with a split there, that would be great too.

Keep in mind, I have the spare tire where it is stock, and don't really want to move it for now.

Thanks!

Well theres really not alot you can do with out moving the tire because the gas tnak it on the other side, dont take the chance. ive to thought about it because i have the 4.0, and i am afraid to take that tire off cause knowing me, ill need it!

Ive considered taking the tire off, and just stowing it on the side in the back, like how jeeps have their spare tires stored

My friend has true dual on his 97 4.0, he had to take the spare tire down, but it looks great, and he just keeps the spare in the back or on the roof,it wasnt very hard, and it looks great. I'll try to get some pics up for you guys soon.

It can be done, I am not happy with it though.
The routing between spare and fuel lines has my a bit nervous.

I recommend a 2.5" single out---seriously. A 3" if you are cammed up with headers

Yea, the fuel lines scared me too.. My spare tire looks like a nail thats been out in snow for the winter. it is rusty. so id have to do alot of work before it will look remotly good enough to throw in the back. You could go dual out of the muffler and just run the two pipes parallel to the back and have two tips. I saw and f-350 yesterday with that.. has the dual exaust sound and look, but its not on both sides.
