Just got my 2003 XLT a couple days ago and I'm considering my options for upgrading the stock stereo. Not sure which factory setup I have, but it's got the in-dash 6 CD head unit, and sub in the cargo area.
So I'm thinking about doing it in 3 steps, and I had a couple questions along the way and wanted some feedback as to what needs to be done and any problems I might run into.
Step 1:
Upgrade the stock head unit. Aside from a wiring harness, will I be able to swap head units and still utilize the factory speakers and amps?
Step 2:
Replace the door speakers.
Step 3:
New sub and amp. This step I'll be completely tearing out the stock sub and amp (I'm assuming this amp is different from the speaker amp).
TIA
