Redranger4.0, solid axle swap d44/9"

I also have my choice of springs from jay's (seller) collection. Im going to grab a set of 350lbs/in and a set of 200lbs/in springs.

(AxB)/(A+B)= final rate

350x200/350+200=127lbs/in

These numbers are all based off of estimates. Ill most likely have to change the springs later on to get the rate I want but these will work for mock up.

So are these C/O's for the front or the rear?

Sorry for being in the unknown, I are the new.

these are for the front. Im going to stick with the chevy 63" leafs out back.

Ah gotcha -- thanks.

I probably don't know what I'm talking about, as I'm still learning about spring rates etc.

But 127 sounds kind of soft for a full bodied/framed truck.

But again, I'm not really one to say ;)

Well i picked up the coilovers and coils today.

I also snapped a picture of my Fx4 shifter.

I did some rough measurements off a couple trucks including a 97 4.0 truck and 1st gen 4.0 explorer. Which will differ slightly but its going to be close in weight. My rate is right in the middle of those two vehicles. Plus im sure its going to take some fooling with to find the right spring rate.

How much droop/compression are you shooting for? I've got 6 up/8 down and it feels pretty good for the terrain I ride. A lot of hardcore crawlers like to run about 3-4 inches of compression and have mostly droop but if I ran mine like that i'd be bottoming out whenever I decide to bomb a wash. Anywho, you'll probably need the triple rate set-up if you have a lot of droop.

Im really not sure yet. I originally thought I wanted to do about 4" up but I think I may go for 6 since I might want to jump this thing every once a while. :D

turning out pretty bad ass so far! keep on working, i know im in the zone right now on m explorer!

Update since I havent done one in a while. I got a little time to work on the truck, but I was lacking parts to actually work on the suspension so I did some other odds and ends.

I got both rockers all cut out and the fenders are also all trimmed up.

Good side shot to show how much I cut out.

And heres a stock fender picture to compare to.

Im going to be using 2x4 or 2x3" with a 3/16th wall for sliders and cut out the rockers so I could tuck them up into the body more.

Got my Ballistic Fab shipment on saturday. There was a 2ft section of 2"x.25 wall DOM with it too, just not pictured.

I also got my bender all set up today.

Another thing I added was a hurst short shifter, Kid had it installed and couldnt get it to stop leaking so he traded me for my fx4 shifter for it. I made a new gasket for the hurst and I doubt ill have any problems with it.

I love the look of the cut rockers, now you can get the sliders tucked way up there. I may have to do that to mine now, I need to build new sliders anyways:rolleyes:
What's your projected finish date? You gotta be tired of looking at this in your driveway by now:p:

Truck looks great, fender cuts came out really nice and clean.

Now that I think about it, I think I built, wheeled and parted out my truck all during your build stage. :p:

Ill be graduating from school in Dec. So if the truck isnt done before then, Ill be moving back to where the truck is and can start working on it, on a regular basis instead of one day here, two days there. I will say I will never start another project when I live more then an hour from it.

Side note, went and picked up my fathers new car about 1 week and a half ago. Thing is a BLAST to drive. 2009 Liquid Red Pontiac G8 GT. While the car is his, Im in charge of moding it.

For those who dont know about the car, heres a quick run down.

GM L76 6.0L Engine. (Block is very similar to Ls2, has Corvette LS3 intake, and L92 heads)

361hp
385 ft-lbs

It is an auto but that is because they dont offer it in a manual. :(

The car had 6 miles on it when we bought it, and it now has 700. A Magnaflow Catback is in the mail, and should be here next week.

I worked on my bike most of the day and since it was dark out I carried my spare door downstairs to start cutting it up.
