Remote Start Facts (2011 - 2015 only)

Came back to dealer with a calmer head, explained them the process, told them I had video if they needed it. Talked to service manager and she pulled up fmc which said "less remote start". She said that's why we are telling you it doesn't have it but we will still try. Fingers crossed they let me show them video or figure it out. Next closest dealership is 2 hrs away

Shouldn't take that long but hey its done.

We all want to know (at least me) what they had to say about it being able to be done?

Nothing at all, no apology didn't even say they actually got it accomplished until I made the remark of " they were able to do it weren't they". They said yes the total is 52 dollars

LOL I have no comment.

You need a gofundme account for all your knowledge and help on these boards. We can tell dealership we aren't paying for you finally doing something and put that money In an account for your knowledge and help haha

I bought the two keys from Jason. Took them to my local Ford dealer, who was nice and cut them for free. I got some push back about needing an antenna, etc. I listened, patiently, and then showed them the YouTube video of the "toggles" on the system. They agreed to try it and as soon as they saw the screen that said the Explorer did NOT need these, they said it would work. It took about 15min. to program two keys and they charged me $59.

So, for $59 and the price of the two keys from Jason, I now have remote start, too! AWESOME! Thanks, everyone!

Does anyone know of a dealership in the Dallas area that will enable the remote start for a fair price? I went to Autonation Ford in Frisco and they wanted $137 just to look at it.

Call OEM Radio Solutions at 214-730-8782. He can enable remote start.

Has anyone done this in Cincinnati? I'm wondering what dealership, if any, will do it.

Thanks Jason. I'll try that.

Thanks a lot Jason for the referral!.. I am available Monday.. I'll actually be at a dealer near there doing a job .. I can come meet you and activate the remote start..

Ok guys first of all I want to thank Jason and all you guys input on the dealers that have and have not been so helpful in enabling your remote starts. I purchased my 2015 explorer XLT in aug of this year and I just bought my keys from Jason , I too have been searching the local dealers in and around Chicago even where I bought my truck and they ve been trying to sell me an entire ford unit plus the antenna blah, blah, blah for over 500.00 I just laugh at the arrogance of these service writers , I ve wasted much of my time trying , so can anyone PLEASE recommend a dealer in or around the chicagoland area that may have had a good experience in this remote start problem???

Ok guys I finally got the dealer to listen and got my remote start activated for 57.00 1/2 hr of labor and I got my 2 keys from Jason (thanks again) so for 230.00 and some change I got it completed , thanks again to everyone for their input ....

I get so many emails about how can I convince my dealer, etc....I really don't have the answer for that. You have to be persistent, give them the instructions, show them my video on my Facebook page on enabling remote start, etc. If they choose not to listen, while unfortunate for "you" on this end, it is their loss as they could learn they could quickly profit from offering this service to their existing customers.

Questions on function

So, I had this "turned on" at my dealer and it works...most of the time. Every once in a while, I will press the lock button and then the START twice as you normally would. Unfortunately, it cranks about half a turn and then stops. Never starts. I have to lock it, unlock it and then wait about 15sec and then lock and hit the start key twice and it will then start. It's as if it gets confused. Anyone else?

Also, I watched and they turned my heated seat function on, but I can't get them to come on with the remote start feature. What am I possibly missing?

Thanks,
Shumax

Have you set it up in the left hand information display? To turn on heating/cooling and the seats with remote start, the setting should be on AUTO in the remote start section. Also, the temperature for the heated seats to come on is 32 degrees or below as measured by the outside temp sensor.

Auto start / stop feature will not be useful for me most of the times because I live in building and my car is going to be parked in the garage across the building. I think that in order to use this feature, you most likely need to see the car, or some thinner walls...just like a TV remote.
I wonder if there is a phone App out there that starts the car, locks the car and so on. I know Lexus has this Lexus inform app that does these things from a phone. I know that the app can also show cars "next service due", tire pressure, if a window, door has been left open and some of the cars diagnostics and temps. I know that is too much to ask, but I hope we can start our cars from a phone too?

The OEM remote start is good for approximately 300'. I park in an attached garage and am able to remote start it from the living room. Granted, the walls are not brick. As for a phone app, see; http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=380004&highlight=remote+access
There may be other threads but I picked this one in doing my 'Search'.
