So my 94 valve covers are pretty ugly. I've soaked them in purple power, but they have rust. One spot is now a hole. I've looked online and can't find new replacements. I'm sure Ford will want 150 - 300 each.

There are plenty of 98-01 Explorers in my area being parted out. If they have the OHV engine, will the valve cover work?

Gasket set part numbers are identical. So if the filler and PCV are in the same place then yes.

I pulled a really nice valve cover from a junk yard. You just have to look a little. I think they charged me $15.

What year Exploder was it off of?

FR-425 thanks for the eBay link. Has the OE number, $111 each at Ford.
Good idea on the gaskets, looks like the same VC gasket fits 91-2000, so I'll hit up some of the people parting out.

Most wrecking yards round here pull the engines, so getting a set there is slim.

Check with Turdle . He may still have some lying around that aren't powder coated yet. Heck, pick up one of his powder coated sets and make the engine pretty.

Yeah I got a quote from Turdle on painting some items. Pretty reasonable actually. Just a matter of down time. I have other things to work on and have been thinking about it.

Was going to try the diy soda blasting on some items. 10 min dip in royal purple has done alright, not leaving the aluminum in too long. But really want some paint.

On the VC's, the ugly rust is where the bolts go through.

Turdle, I have the valve covers, upper intake (lower is already back on,) the timing cover and water pump that I'd be interested in. Water pump will be new. Can you PM me a new quote?

I was thinking just a Ford blue. Don't quite need neon yellow and green.

Damn, then there's the power steering and AC mount brackets......

All parts a grease free (well, haven't touched the upper intake yet) and like I said, I'm gonna try to soda blast the later mentioned mounts a bit.

Ha! I love the lego colors. I was thinking of doing my valve covers at some point. I was going to go with a gold engine paint I found, as it matches the factory pinstriping perfectly. And I'm all for color coordination. :p

:DThat's the one! knew I was missing a color or two.

Here's the AC compressor and PS Pump brackets. And they aren't flat either, 4-6 inches front to back.

With an engine like that I'd want to leave the hood off...
