Rookie guide to changing Spark Plugs

Besides, while you're at it, you'll be able to tell what is going on inside of that cylinder, and a bit about the inside of the motor.

Can you explain what you mean by this? How does changing spark plugs give me this info?

By the color, odor; you can tell if your motor's internals are working correctly.
 






oh wow....okay thanks....I've only removed one so far but looks to be fine.

Luckily I have another car that I can drive until the day comes that I finish this "project". :eek:

Yea, usually you can tell if it is time to change the plugs by color and the distance between the firing end and electrode.
 






You'll have to look at each one too- it would tell you if you have one cylinder with an issue- injector, plug wire/coil, etc...
