SEA FOAM!!!

O'Reilies has it. Some other auto parts stores should have it. I know autozone doesn't carry it though.

I have been sitting here crying laughing because of this. I used the 3-step induction cleaner right before I put the supercharger on. Same thing - smoke filled up the neighborhood... Someone actually called the fire dept though - they gave me hell and laughed so hard when the thing finally quit...

Haven't had the first problem yet. I put the Eaton on at 130,000 miles, and now it has 145,000...

wow, you put an S/C on with that many miles, i thought that that wasn't very good for the engine, fromwhat i hear, you would be one with a large sack to spend that kind of money on a engine with that many miles.

i can't find this stuff anywhere areound here. checked autozone and pepboys. i'll check napa and some others tomorrow. geez..

Do you have a carquest? That's the only place I can find it.

Sounds like trouble to me guys. White smoke is water vapor. Water is not compressible like gas and air. Is it worth potentially breaking a wrist pin, damaging a valve or crankshaft bearing just to MAYBE clean out some gunk? Not to mention that varnish and gunk do not just vaporize magically. Chances are, you'll just move the gunk to the exhaust valves or cat in the form of carbon. I've never done it on my 97X, but removing a throttle body and air intake is no big deal. Maybe I'll do that instead when the time comes.

Since this thread came up again, for anyone contemplating using this you should read this thread also Dead Link Removed

I'm not saying don't use it, just make sure to follow the directions carefully.:)

why yes! the closest one is about 35 miles away. there is one in my parent's town and they are coming up this weekend.. i'll get them to stop by and pick some up! thanks.

yep that was me and my friends stupidity!!! Turns out the seafoam didn't really hydrolock his engine. The extra pressure just caused his already cracker starter to break. But yeah, make sure you do it WHILE running, and pour it slowly or your engine will shudder so bad you'll think it will jump out from the car and tear you up.

I'm glad his engine made it ok. A starter is a lot cheaper than new connecting rods ;)

Not if you buy your starter from a Ford dealer!!! hahahahahahaha! Jerks.....

I haven't seen (haven't looked for it actually) this Sea Foam yet but will be trying to find it this weekend to run through mine. I have almost 95K on it and it could probably use a good cleaning. Where do you poor it in (before the MAF, throttle body, gas tank)? Why is it called Foam if it is a liquid? I was picturing a spray can of a foam substance that I would lightly spray into my throttle body while running the engine. From the sounds of it, this may not be what I would do with it.

its called sea foam beacuse i think its first use was marine motors because they can get pretty dirty and old in what seems like no time (it can be used in any type of motor)

Sea foam can be put into your gas tank to clean fuel system, crackcase to clean crap in there, or your intake manifold to clean the cylinders. I used my PVC hose and shoved a funnel in one end, and attached the other end to the PVC hose connection on the intake manifold. You can also use the brake vaccum line that connects to the intake manifold.

Yes either way psychotic described it will work. Make sure to buy a little funnel though. Also, you will need to rev the engine by hand while pouring it, or it will choke off.

Okay I have read a ton of stuff about how to use it, where to get it and what it does, but I want to know if anybody has noticed IMPROVEMENTS in the engine when it's done.

I recommendedit to a friend of mine with a EGR problem in his Cherokee with a 318, the EGR is so hard to get to you would have to pull the friggin intake to replace it, his CEL kept coming on and he had tried everything, kept tellinghim 02 sensors for some reason, he did the Seafoam and it's fixed, so obviously great stuff, if you need it.

Anybody get power back by using it? Just curious, please let me know if it actually helped or just made you feel better...

It made me feel better atleast :D

I didn't give it any gas while pouring, i just poured very slow. like... as in there was always air able to get through the bottom of the funnel. When it started to seem like it would die, i let off the pourin a tad. Anyways... I noticed some smoother acceleration. My idle was perfectly smooth too. However the smooth idle only lasted a week, then it idled like a normal car, which is a huge imporvement over before.

hahahaha I;m not using it unless I need it then. Could do more harm then good, all that carbon and gunk going through the cat....

It;s funny when people say a smooth idle, with a V-6 you will NEVER get a smooth idle, it's just the fact of life. I mean yes the OHV is pretty smooth, but it will never idle as smooth as a V-8.........something about a V-6 it always has a little BUMP every few piston strokes......

It was perfectly smooth for the first week, after that it idled the same as my dad's new v8 ex... i'd prove it to you if you took a road trip here

The only question now lies is that WHERE can we get this SEA FOAM?

CARQUEST

also I hear Amsoil makes a version of this product called POwer Foam....so you can get it from your local Amsoil dealer if you dont have Carquest.

I;m sure if you look around you can find similar products. made to clean the intake and carbon from pistons....
