I am thinkin about getting a Hypertech Power Programmer III so i get the goods from the chip, plus i can change the speedo for when i put in the 4:10 and for the change in factory tires. My question is would there be any point in gettin a B&M Shift enhancer if i am planning on gettin the hypertech? Doesn't the hypertech do pretty much the same thing...

come on, there has to be someone out there who knows what to say...

I think the programmer III is a good idea. I think it does modify the shift points, but I dunno about the shift firmness. That's what a shift kit does, the shift firmness and speed. I say you get the programmer and see how much you like what it does to the tranny. If you want to firm up the shifts after you use the programmer, then get the shift kit.

yea..i found the B&M shift kit for like 36.00 online...so it wouldn't be a big deal....

Mightnot be a big deal to buy it but installing the shift kit in the tranny's throttle body is striaghtforward and not too difficult if you are used to doing these things.

Now I am assuming you are talking about the internalt tranny shift kit and not the electronic B&M I have been hearing about lately.......

What is the difference? Is one better than the other? I foundthe one that is electronic

the totally electronic one is really easy to install, 2 wires to hook up. It really helps my tranny out.

so what did it do? It just made the shifts more firm? Did it change the shift points at all? Is it worth the money, i know it isn't expensive or anything...but i just like to know about stuff before i buy it...

it doesn't really change the shift points, as that's in the programming. What it does is change the voltage of the shift signals to the tranny, making it shift faster and harder.

also, do a search for shift kit heat sink. You should pull up my install thread with my heat sink idea.
