Should I give up? Darkest hour. (scam-y used parts dealers)

It can be towed with no transfer case. Maybe 410 has a good spare he could sell you?

At least he will be getting something that works

Anything blessed by his touch will be good, that's why I mentioned it.

Where does the rear drive shaft go does it just lay on the ground tho?

Unbolt it. 13 mm or 1/2 inch 12 point wrench, socket will remove the 4 bolts

Or just strap it up securely. Rachet strap, rope, wire, etc, just no bungies.

I would think any 1354e would work fine, from a range of years and vehicles. One question though, why did you tcase “blow up”? I would know the answer before I put another case in...

I dunno only guess is hard year of constant wear and tear plus few days before it did I was comin down the summit it was light snow I had the 4x4 on drove onto freeway wasn't snow anymore just wet was going like 60 mph forgot it was on slowed probably too late to turn off?
Few days later 2 wheel drige is fine dry roads the noise came. 1 thud every 5 seconds or so, next day just bang bang bang grind sound. The tranny shop who I trust said transmission is fine.

[it’s up to you. You can pull the driveshafts, or support them. NOTE: if wheels are towed on the ground the shaft WILL be spinning at normal driving speeds.

Pull em out? Someone else said just strap them down.
If something happens to the straps while towing with the wheels on the ground, the shafts will beat everything within reach under the car and if you're not lucky the rear one
may also act as a pole vault.

It’s one of those “take the extra 10 minutes to save yourself a whole lot of potential pain” things

And if you’ve never done them, you can replace the u-joints easily while they’re out.

What about towing on a flatbed though.

That's fine. The wheels would not be touching the ground or turning. If you are going this route, then it would be easier to strap the shafts up out of the way.

Ford d shaft bolts are 12mm 12 point not 13mm or 1/2”!!!

I do have a few 1354e t cases like 6 of them I sell them for $150,

(FYI we also have several 1354m, $4-600 for a manual caee with linkage)

Shipping these days is $$$$ for me from north Idaho they ding us for extra, would be about $100 shipping to so cal

Do not let a slight leak turn you away the caee can be split rather easily and re sealed in like 30 minutes

Many people about 10 years ago we were running Mercon v in the t cases because that is what the transmissions use… ford when then come out and say Mercon v is too slick for t cases they were correct. I have personally seen 2-3 1354, 4405 and 4406 blow up due to using Mercon v.

We Run Mercon iii or ford transfer case fluid now no more issues

Driving on dry pavement in 4wd for too long can also chew them up
