sn0border88's SAS Thread

Assuming I can make it down to MD next month Linds will definately be done sooner. She has done tons of work already to make things go more smoothly.

Jay, you arent even doing one are you?

ill be doning alot more work, but i just have to get it done alot faster than she did. Gears and axle rebuild are getting done next week as long as i get that 44 from joes this weekend.

apperantly you do most of that while driving...

:p:

Sorry, couldnt resist.

put it this way, could a 28 spline big bearing 9" shaft handle 37's

No a 28 spline will probably break. Especially with a spool. a 31 spline might break with a spool. This axle isn't worth the hasle. I can go at any time to the pick and pull 20 minutes from my house and pull 3 31 spliners for $100 a pop. Chuck that axle and get the right one. It will be much easier. Or, if you really want my opinion- why are you getting rid of your 8.8? It is 31 spline and arguably as strong as 31 spline 9" (It is in my opinion). Buy an f150 8.8 if you want the width.

He already got a new 31 spline 9 inch.

I ditched the 8.8 because I wanted something with a large aftermarket and lots of room to build on incase of later plans (link suspension, 35/40 spline). The 9" has arguably the largest aftermarket of almost any rear. Plus I got a good deal on gears for the 44/9", that was a big factor.

Why are you on here yapping and not out pulling an axle, slacker? :D

Ive already got the 9" in my garage. Im going tommorow to the junkyard, fawker. :p:

And I may be picking up my 3rd explorer. :D (Though I ahve no idea what im going to do with it, I couldnt pass for 200 bucks.)

.... I am basically 2 weeks from gettin all the aprts together and my tranny blows.

Well, its still going as planned, now it will be reciecving a m50d or a c4 when the axles go under.

As for parts, as soon as I get a DD and know what its gonna cost me ill continue ordering stuff. I got a High pinion d44 with new warn hubs and weld on c wedges for 85 bucks at the yard the other day, its stripped and ready for gears. I already ordered a super beef diff cover made with 1/2 plate.

Ordered master installs and spool tonight, 329 shipped. 9" Is getting brakes finished this week, gears next week then it will be hung under. After that comes the c5/1350 install and final rear driveshaft work.

SAS is suppost to happen mid december, this is gonna b close.

If the garage I havein mind falls through, I dont know where illdo it.

Ok, I got the garage to work in, got the master installs and spool, getting flatops and histeer arms (I think) and the 9" brakes are finished.

Now it all hinges on finding a tranny and getting it built in time. However, I drove around today and everything shifted find. I wonder if it was just a hickup?

There is no such thing as a tranny hickup. Something is wrong.

Mine did that a two years ago. it ran for three more months lol and then just dropped all in one day.

Ok, so im set to do it this coming weekend. :D

Ive got almost everything in hand so hopefully things will go smoother than with linds's (Which I still may acually be done first) :p:
