sn0border88's SAS Thread

WARNING: This swap will be longer than bmxking's

Thanks to tig for a real steal that I couldnt pass up ($50), it all started with a d44 from a 73' Bronco. This means its drum braked, coil sprung with LP housing complete hub to hub with r/a's.

But, its matching width. :D

Its in great shape as far as EB axles are concerned. It has 3.50's which upon inspection are in PERFECT condition. Not one chip on any of the ring gear teeth. Also the rust isnt too bad, its simply surface rust, nothing damaging. Also most of the bolts so far are coming off very well, only breaking a few. Not bad for 31 years of rust.

So far in the plans are yukon 4.88's with full spool or lincon locker. Disk brake conversion VIA junkyard or broncograveyard, rear XJ 8" lift leafs and heimjointed crossover. To complete the swap ill be getting new cromo shafts front and rear with a new 5on5.5 bolt pattern for the 8.8 and 4.88's with a detriot. Also rounding it out are some new rubbers, either 35" boggers or MT/R's on 5on5.5 steelies/beadlocked pending on the DD status upon completion of the project. And, if it is no longer a DD when I finish, the top is coming off.

I was wondering what the point of cleaning and pimping a rear 9" and then a rockwell up fornt would have been kinda wierd.

anti wrap bar is IN.
tube tranny x-member is IN.

After 5 hours working alone, I got the whole thing done in one shot, flexed and tested and it all clears. Fawker weighs about 30-40 pounds 6' 3/8 wall tube, ~2sqft 1/4 plate, 1 1/4" solid bar and quite a bit of welding.

No, its not going to break. :D

Pics tomorrow.

BEEF:eek:

And with this, I announce the retirement of emily rose.

Rear main seal is going, tranny is going, body is in bad shape, bent another leaf spring, ect. I dont want 4 doors, I dont want 4 seats. I dont want front leafs, I dont want leafs at all. I have realized that this truck will not hold up to my pissed off hillbilly driving style, and its simply not worth the effort needed to make it do so.

I will have one last run july 26-27 then its getting dismantled and sent to the scrapper. Axles and tires will be sold/traded for 1 tons.

New project will be a pickup, either a 60's willys or a MJ

Sorry to hear that, but good luck with the new project eh.

Sorry to hear your putin emily down, but on to bigger and better, and in your case more durable things i guess

you going to be doing a part out by any chance?

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PUT THAT POOR THING DOWN, YOU HEAR ME?!?!?!?!!? She has been thru WAY too much to suffer retirement in a junkyard !!! ARRGgrrbl!!
