Since both kits are so affordable, which way would be best......spacer/shackle or skyjacker 2" lift? Is there a big enough difference to pay the extra money? Thanks.

I recently installed the 2" skyjacker lift on my '91 navajo and I think it was well worth the money.

The Skyjacker comes with new coils and rear add-a-leafs.The front springs are most likely worn out anyway so replacing them is a good idea. The rear add-a-leaf also beefed up the soft stock suspension. In either case you will have to have some shims installed to fix your front camber angle which can cost as much as $150 for parts and labor. I installed the shims myself for about $20 and had the front end aligned for $45. I bought the lift for $180 from 4wheelparts.com. :exp:

hieght wise and basic idea wise they do the same thing.... but the skyjacker appears to be better, but also is more expensive....

If you can afford it, do them both. Unless you know you won't want to go any higher get the skyjacker. If you are going to want to go higher, then don't do either and wait until you can afford a bigger lift. Good luck.

so I can do the shackle lift and spacers and then later on do the Skyjacker? Will this give me between a 3-4in lift? Would both of these together be a quality lift? Thanks.

Wouldn't the front end be REALLY hard, if not impossible, to align properly with both 2" lift coils and spacers without any drop down axle pivot brackets?? My best friend's Ranger was difficult to get aligned with just the Skyjacker coils.

Stephen S, you are right. You can't align anything over 2". He would have to get the drop down brackets before doing both, I wasn't thinking about that thank you.

BTRs X, if you are already thinking of going higher, you might as well buy the skyjacker 4" lift.

whats the deal with the drop down brackets? how do they help the alignment? and how much do they cost? thanks

they come with a lift that is about 4" high and allow the front end to drop and allow it to be further away from the frame

i dont really know much bout hte alignment process, so how does that help someone achieve alignment better? does it simply help the camber? because that i can understand. thanks

I found the 2'' Skyjacker lift for $180 at 4wheelparts.com. Anybody know how hard that would be to install in my driveway with common hand tools? I am a college student and have a pretty fixed budget. One more question: How much would the spacer/shackle lift run me and where could I find the parts for that?

Yes, the spacers are for camber..SkyJacker also sells Camber Bushings to go with the kit..As far as installing it yourself...Yes, not to many tools needed..If I remember right....15mm for eyebolt..18mm for U-bolts..15mm for Shock mounts...1 1/8 socket for Coil spring mount. Think the sway bars are also 15mm.and a 13mm for the top shock mount..So a basic metric DEEPWELL socket set, and basic Metric wrenches.
I ran the SkyJacker lift for about 6 months..Loved it..Sold it to another member 6 months ago, and as far as I know, he is happy with it.
I did the install in a days time.
Good Luck..
BTW...Try the search feature, if I remember right, several of us posted install instructions when Boats was doing his.
