I have a single leaf spring on an explorer sport. I'd like to tow, so i was going to swap to the multileaf springs in the rear. It's a smallish boat, nothing huge, but i don't want the sag if possible.Doable, or dumb idea?

Been there, done that.
$100.00 from a junk yard for a pair of springs.
It is a fairly easy task for any weekend warrior.

Good luck and lemmie know if you need any help.

Any additional parts needed? i.e. longer U bolts, hardware, etc. Reason I ask is that I probably won't go to a u-pull-it yard, otherwise I'd leave all that stuff hanging on the spring when I go pay.

For a '98 Sport.

Im going to end up doing the same. does it matter what yr 4dr the leafs come off of? Do the 4dr leafs articulate better than the mono leaf?

what if you have a 4dr and your leafs SUCK, ie they squeak, bounce somethin awful, and sway side to side on turns?
