and i dont suggest this.. but ive seen it done (i didnt do it) kid i knew wanted to test to see if his battery was bad or not.. so he took battery out of his car, pulled his brothers car up, hooked up jumper cables to his brothers car (pos to pos, ground to ground not to body) and then hooked it to his battery cables of his car and started his car with no battery.. this puts a HUGE strain on the battery your trying to jump from though

Man this really sucks because i Spent 2 weeks pulling rebuilding and reinstalling the transmission and i cant even tell if i did it right :/

You could short the plug out going to the trans and see if it starts

Thanks! how would i go about shorting the switch? it might not be on all the way... Im still charging the battery because its really low..

Your have to search that or ask glaccier.im not sure how it works, ground switch or a hot switch

Ill look into it... I think that the nss is it... Im going to make sure its better connected tomorrow and ill try it..or if that doesnt work ill Bypass it and reset the inertia switch too Thanks guys!

Kay i have an update charged the battery Got it to barely turn over until it just clicked... Seems like when i put it in reverse It will start or neutral Somethin like that... Im thinking i need battery cables

I think its a dead batt... going to try to charge it some more

hopefully, that way you know everything else is ok, and hopefully so i was helpful for once :D:p:

so did you try any thing else? got it running? my mechanic was here working on wifes van (sucking all my explorer money into her van) he said when u installed your tranny there was a part you might have bumped (cant remember name sorry) basically when u think your in R your in N, N is OD, OD is D so forth, might be why it wont start.. also said good possibility your key ignition it self might be going bad

yeah your right I did get it running but I still gotta figure out how tp put the shifter back right

on this same subject..transmission of my '94 was rebuilt last summer 2010. 100 starts since then. 3 months ago no start. dash lights, fuel pump acutates. key in run position jumpin across starter solonid truck starts and stay running in all gears, positive jump from battery to solonoid stud on starts truck. ignition switch checked out but replaced anyway. funny thing is i getting 12vDC at red trigger wire on solonid when ignition pushed to start position but apparently no current. tried starting in all gears and no go. neutral switch or broken wire somewhere? any advice folks?

probably the nss (neutral safety switch)

thanks my friend..first time using this service. again thanks for the quick response.

no problem! It has sure saved me a lot of money!

have the starter tested, if its not the starter then its the ignition switch (not the lock cylinder) if both of those are fine it may be a neutral saftey switch. im a first gen owner so im not too familiar with 2nd gens..
