I don't think anyone makes a "kit" but some people have buitl their own. Look up Elite member SVO. He has done it

I've read something about the SC from an Xterra fits, but there's some modifying involved. This was a while back though.

pretty much any supercharger will work. there basically universal. it just involves some knowledge, and fabrication skills. we installed a thrunderbird supercharger on a probe 3.0 awhile back, and that only took us a weekend. its not that hard really.

There was a kit made at one point but it's been discontinued. If you search around on the forum you'll find some more info about it, and you may be able to find a used one somewhere.

SVO does not a supercharger, he is however in the process of converting his Navajo to a turbo'd motor out of a thunderbird

I know there was a member last year who was trying to sell one of the discontinued kits. He was down to a mere 1500 or something at one point cuz no one was interested. I don't know if it ever sold so i second that, def look around the site for a used one

Sorry, SVO has 2 pictures of a supercharged 4.0 in his pics. mabey he can be of help. (Better?)

i know there is one for sale but i cant find it know.

cost like 2500 though. much cheaper to go turbo. and more fun!

The only problem I have with turbochargers, is getting the exhaust to one side. I recently saw a Ranger on RPS that someone pretty much installed the turbo almost directly to the engine. It was a good looking build, but he didn't build up the engine at all, and eventually it went south on him. It sounded pretty mean though while it worked. Just proves a point though, build up the engine first, you'll end up saving money in the long run.

x2 on building the motor first. I've always been more of a turbo fan, you can build more boost with lower rpm's where a supercharger doesn't get to full boost until right before you shift. A good friend of mine started a custom turbo company, check it out: www.ststurbo.com I love it cuz you don't have to cram it under the hood and there's no need for an intercooler because of the distance the boosted air travels. Sure there's some turbo lag but it gives you some time to get traction. I've ridden in one of his LS1 camaro's, it's incredible! I've also ridden in one of their turbo Tacoma's. They do have a universal kit, Turbo X anyone?

I feel like today I'm contradicting everyone, so I'm sorry if that's how I come off. Just trying to get everything I thought I knew into what I know, and just get everything set right in my head.

Now... I was under the impression that boosted air through turbochargers is hot. Mostly because the fact turbos are exhaust driven, and you have that high heat next to the booster air and also because of the friction from the spooling effect the turbo is doing. But if you didn't need an intercooler, then why do so many people have them? Also, the air doesn't travel to great a distance, most times it's 2-3 feet worth of piping into the intake.

An intercooler isn't a must, but they do add more power by lowering the intake temp like you said.

Yup, what I meant was that they aren't necessary on the STS kist because the turbo is in the back of the vehicle where the muffler was so the distance the boosted air travels cools the air like an intercooler

They have the kits for the SOHC but not the OHV. I just looked, if you're looking elsewhere on the site, please link to it.

xplorerexpress has stopped selling their kits. Which were like 2000$.

Go to andysauotsport.com (i think) and put in 91-94 ford EXPLORER. Then scroll down to performance and click on superchargers/turbos. They sell a Vortech kit that is 3300$ but looks complete.

I have a brand new Eaton M62 with a homemade adapter plate for the lower intake manifold. I'm pretty sure I still have the directions for the kit that one guy was selling along with full size pics of some of the brackets to use as templates. I have it listed on craigs list for 300 OBO but on here for 230 but had to bump it up to 240 to cover shipping. So 240 shipped to CONUS. Oh yea, theis was for my 91 OHV.

This blower I think only puts out 7 to 10 PSI. I don't think you can put to much more than that without having a built motor. I assume its some type of bypass valve but I don't know.
