I have a some, or rather a ton of chainsaws and weed wacker engines in the garage. I've had leaf blower pistons out but I haven't had to pull a chainsaw apart that much yet. If you want some I can bring them to AFN:thumbsup:

awesome progress Tim, I too love the shifter. I agree I think a late night drive by is on order for the neighbor :)

Don't worry about the neighbor, he has no clue.
Great to see you are spending the time and doing everything nicely, rather than doing a quick and dirty hack job.

You could have just hacked it up, and been done in no time. I don't think Evil would treat you very well after that though.

You should snag a piston from a SOHC and use that, then again that may be too big.

...and use a timing chain with it :D

Nice work, Tim!

Glen, its buddy's neighbor, he will get one regardless. Back in the day when my buddy and I had our cars, it was customary (started by me....) to do full throttle drive by's at their home, work, girlfriends, parents, ect. (if they were there). I owe him that much, he did one to me this spring the day before he sold his camaro.....so he (even tho I am doing evil at his place) knows its coming and so does the neighbor. Just a matter of time :D. His neighbor isn't a bad guy, it's just that comment that pissed me off. Dono, there is no way I could hack this truck. If I did, I would think most people on here would murder me! Hell, Lindsy gave me crap on Facebook for having a fram oil filter on it!!!!! Lol (and yes I will take it off after it has ran for 30 mins.

all righty then. last night (thurs. depending who you are and when you got to sleep....) got the transfer case back together.

big thanks to my buddy joe. not only does he let me use his garage, but he also put the case back together for me.

i also got it up into place with a few bolts started, but not "finished".

today, however was get'r dun day. i had to finish putting the case in, the bracket for the front of the gas tank, exhaust, drive shaft, front diff and axles.

as mentioned earlier, i found i little bit better way to put the bolts back in for the pass header.

DSC01321_Medium_.JPG

drop the starter, and there is the bolt from hell. you can start it with your fingers until you have threads in it, then use a ratchet with extensions, with the drivers side loose.

after that, i also now need to get the exhaust fixed. i must have had something not in the right spot, and everything is super tight, and looks like the tail pipe is resting on the roll pan. so i fought with that for a bit (and what moron put those annoying bushings with the bolt going into that bracket? if i find him....), got the case locked down, then almost had a melt down cause the bracket for the front of the tank didnt want to line up. the one and only connecter for the case was resting on the tank stopping me from putting it in. brain fart #1 .
brain fart #2 came when i smashed my head on the rotor as i was walking out from under the truck (have a nice mark on the chrome dome now to.....thanks evil.)
put the rear shaft in, and at full drop, looks like its in place where it should be (phew).
put the front diff back in as well.

the drivers side was being a P.I.T. ROYAL A., only for me to discover afterwards (like after fighting with it for 30 mins afterwards) thaaaaaaaaaat i was putting it backwards .........enter brain fart #3
i then started adding all the fluids in. while putting trans fluid in, i had to grab something and sat the jug on the intake. i wasn't even turned for 1 second and heard a "thud". yup, jug fell over, spilling trains fluid ALL over my nice motor and drivers header. brain fart #4 (yes i was keeping tabs).
then it happens.

just like simons, sounds like the alt bearing is knocking around (i hope), have a high idle, an reads no oil pressure. i know it has pressure, so i guess i will be doing a little re pinning. i have to put the transfer case skid plate back up, hood on it, then i think i can drive it.
got a little scared. when i did that vid, it was the third start up. the first two, it ran like hell. motor was shaking bad, and had to wild of idle. i guess the pcm was going nuts trying to learn everything that was changed cause that cam cant be all that wild from a stock mustang.
i will also have to go back to the 4406 thread. when i went to put the front shaft up, it was too long. if i was reading it correct, it said to get a front shaft from a f150 or excursion with a 4.6, but its too long. ugh, at least it runs, and sounds reaaaaaaaaaaly nice!

He has the 4406, doesn't matter if the front shaft is in or not, it will have rwd as an option,,

so he can do burnout pics anytime,,

Nice!! Glad you got her running :D

you owe me a car wash ;), however, you have as of this moment, 139 days, 12 hours, 2 mins, and 23 seconds to get jack up and running!

last night i got the last (that i know of for now) bugs and little things worked out. she wasn't reading any oil pressure at all, and had to add one wire to it, now it works again

my buddy joe doing the electrical for me, i suck at it. he also hooked up the ac switch to the one connector as well, so it will turn on.

also when at idle, the v6 tack would read something like 1100-1200 rpms. we hooked it up to his mac scanner. on it it read around 750-800 in park, around 600-700 in gear. i will yank out the v8 cluster, or tack and put it in to see if that makes a difference.
i had what sounded like a knock from the front of the motor, and a little belt squeal. simon had the same sound when he first fired pickle up. i thought his was the alt., or alt pulley, he had told me it was his power steering pump pulley rattling around. to me, that made sense, because i put a new pump on. that pulley was tight, but i did happen to see a loose bolt on the water pump pulley. as i moved it around, they all were loose. after clamping them down, knock sound gone, as well as the belt squeal. started it, put it threw the gears, and it shifted nice, tried it in 4x4, it goes in and works no problems. other then finding a different front shaft for it, putting the skid plate for the transfer case on, and taking it to a exhaust shop to rework my total lack of exhaust pipe expertise, she's DONE! i will wait until the stores open so i can get some oil, and filter for it, and go for a test bag........errr, test "drive".

so if some time around 1 pm central time, you hear uncontrolled laughing, and giggling, you know i am running evil down the road severely breaking the speed limit! lol

even more ironic? this day, 3 years ago, i brought evil home for the first time with her new paint job! weird!!!! :)

H E L L yeah !!!! Now I not only want that bumper, custom flames and moldings painted, now I want that V8!!!!!!!!!!!

did the test fight today. other then a high pitched squeal sound when rolling (like a dry u joint) that i cant pinpoint, all was good. first gear hardly exists now, lol. it looks like the speedo is close to. i figured it would be out because the old pcm thinks it still has 3.73, where a sport has 4.11's in it. was kinda afraid to really give it a hell drive, but i did stand on it a few times. that and the roads are a little slimy at the moment. the other thing i thought was odd is that it's not as loud inside as it was with the v6.

the vid does this no justice either. it gets up and goes, and has a very nice roar to it. also, if you listen close enough you can here the tires break loose going into second. i also have cooper discovery's on it, and not the goodyears.
