been there, done that, got the t shirt!

just came home from 2012 all ford nationals. or as i want to call it, all mustang nationals, with some other stuff there. but what can you do, right?
was great to see everyone again, and meet a few people that i have only talked to on the net for ever how long.
explorersport77 once again was nice enough to let me camp out at her place for the most part of the trip. as well as spas and skunk let me crash up at there neck of the woods as well for a few days.
i need to say big thanks to explorersport77 (tara) and her boyfriend kyle for not only letting me stay at her place, but for also taking me to ocean city, md, as well as monster jam in philly, as well as i whole pill of stuff between.
and big thanks to spas (lindsy) for crashing at her place, as well as running me down to harry's where i lucked out finding one of the driveshafts for evil (lucked out, hell, it was still on the t case, that was on the ground laying beside the truck it was pulled from!), as well as being able to watch some pretty wild fireworks freeland put on for the long weekend from there back porch.

so once again, just a few pics i will post up

literally just arrived there, and tara was snapping pics

evil and her best friend hotness at blackrock fabrication.

posing with one of my favorite lifted 2nd gen sports, captain morgan

proving that i can once again lay my hand on hotness without having it chopped off at the wrist.

meeting the man, dr. svo himself! cool as hell guy as well

just driving

zippin down the road

aaaaaaaaaaaand the money shot! thanks for taking me there lindsy so i could get this pic.

oh, and then the drive by's
lindsy was driving, and i know she was having fun. even if she didnt say it, lol.

and the bad's (there wasnt to many of them either)

driving there, just outside of chicago, i was able to hear one of the headers leaking. well, by the time i got to tara's, it sounded like a farm truck. two bolts going from the header to the head on the same pipe backed off to being hand tight. also, it seemed to be down on power. svo told me to disconnect the batter, let it sit for about a hour, then reconnect it. was afraid to do it there, but now that i am home, i will do it. i also had i little (well not little, almost turned into wrestle mania) with a knob of a mechanic for lifting evil using the t bars, and not the lifting points that ford put in. this one i am going to purse further as well, because it became personal. the trans mount also is holding up well. anyone that is doing, or has done a 4406 swap with your v8, you really need to look into putting a polly mustang bushing in there.
as for mileage, this surprised me. i averaged, according to the message center, 18-19 mpg, with the a/c on, and doing 70-75 mph. i thought it would be worse. still, its no prius, but i also thank god for that one to!
everyone thought i was, or still am nuts for driving all the way there, but more so now after doing a complete drive train swap, and having less miles on it to prove its self, then i drove it for the trip. to me, that was the ultimate test drive!
thats it for now. since i have got home, i havent done anything with evil. just need to sit and relax for another day, and i am sure she will also like to rest for a bit.

Excellent, that's a wonderful trip to hear about. Thanks for sharing the pics and videos too.

Welcome back Tim!

I just met Tim to pick up some rims he had for me for my new winter tires.
Tim took my truck for an 'after' ride (he drove it while it was still naturally aspirated).

I then had the honor of taking his baby for a ride. I think his truck is faster than mine, and he thinks I'd take him in the quarter. Tough to know. Definitely two separate approaches to more power though.

Tim's truck runs great. Great manners, and the body is nice and tight. He's done a great job.

Funny thing is, after I drove it, he had to take me for a 'real' drive.

Awesome job Tim!

Sounds like its time to hit the track, or maybe an open stretch of road.

and the end result :D

what you cant see is the 3 foot patch when it hit second. i need a posi, i know....

She sounds strong Tim! I can't wait to put another motor together for mine. I kinda regret not doing a little work to it when I did the swap but it now has about 180k miles on it so I want to do a fresh motor.

P.S. I finally tracked down the other parts for my 4406 swap so it should be done soon!

you should have came to AFN. hell, i went to ocean city while i was there, and i am even wearing one of the shirts i got from there as i type this, lol!

I am gonna try like hell to be there this year! I got a little rust in the rockers I need to take care of and hopefully I can keep her running good till then. She is my daily driver again so I have to plan the T case swap carefully! I am about half way between Carlisle and ocean city!

Tim's is definitely the better looking of the twins.

Pretty amazing. I guess its true, we all do have a twin out there.

forgot to add these.

i finally got around to making my frankenstein front drive shaft. the double cardan joint is from the one that i brought back with me when spas took me to harry's when i was down in PA earlier this summer, and the rest of the drive shaft is from one i found in a jeep cherokee that was at work.

after

sorry for the blurry pic. the first one had vibrations in it, so i got this one done. it to cost me, but when i was changing the d.c. joint, all the bearings feel out, and were impossible to get back in, and hold in place. that and the ball in there didnt rotate smoothly either, so i had them replace that. i used MountaineerGreen's link http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185232 but had to get it shorten. i think in the end it was 31 inches from center to center on the u joint caps

also wanted to snap a pic on how the trans mount is holding up. i would say i have about 12,000 kms, (roughly 7500 miles) on it, with one hell of a shift kit in it, and it hasnt let up, and holding fine. anyone reading this, if you have done a 4406 swap, you really should do this upgrade for the trans mount.
i also have a d.c. rear shaft for it, but will get it cut down, and installed in time.

and in other news, around a month and a haft ago, my new neighbors had there house stuccoed. well, needless to say the guy doing it, really didnt care about anything that was around.

evil sitting in the driveway, minding her own business, any what happens? you got it, they got stucco all over the roof, hood, hatch (how they managed that is beyond me) and down the passengers side (thats what all the white dots are on the paint). but that was before they had the brain wave of a idea to throw a CANVAS tarp on it. nice move, you just put scratches all over it as well. needless to say, buddy polished MOST of it out of the hood but we will have to color sand it to get the rest of it out. i had to threaten the guy with court before he finally coughed up the cost to get it done.

Nice work on the parts.

AND are you kidding me on the stucco??? Un Believable!!! I sure hope you get those scratches out without affecting the flames!!!

Glad the dickheads paying for it mate

First rule of painting outside is paint will find the most expensive thing around the job to stick to it.

Looks like stucco is the same!

So, the vibration??

So, the vibration??

havent taken it on a test flight as of yet. i dove it the other day, and could hear a faint clicking sound. so i have to find out if its a u joint, the little ball thingy, or the drive shaft itself. that or i forgot to grease something, and thats the end result of it.

My fingers are crossed. Those vibrations can be a b&%ch to find.

so today i was bored (like i kinda am now) and figured i should go on a test flight to see if there would still be a vibration at speeds with the new drive shaft. 100 km (62mph) nothing. 110 kms (68mph) tiny bit. 120 kms (74mph) evils giving me a message. 130 kms (80 mph) i thought any and all teeth where going to rattle out. back to the drawing board.
