Sync ver 2.6?

thanks for the info...it's weird thou some people with a mid-March build date saying they had v2.7 when receiving the car...

Mine is a March build and sync shows 2.7. Of course now it's lost in the land of "awaiting shipping", so if I ever get it, I could check it out myself. :(

I should correct my statement. It will not show up as an available upgrade on Syncmyride. It will show up as the version installed after the dealer does the work.

ok, so at the end, the dealer has to upgrade it to v2.7! i was hoping it's going to be factory installed/upgrade so that when i receive my car, it would be v2.7 without the hassle...oh well, mine is showing v2.6, nothing i can do now...

If yours shows 2.6 it will likely come with 2.7.. there was another thread that said that errored vins were showing 2.6 and would be corrected before or upon delivery.

Took my EX in and the dealer said he just got a letter from Ford and my Ex was in deed in need of a major update. I have 2.4 and assume the upgrade was 2.7. He said it takes about 1 1/2 hours to do. Four hours later they said that they were having trouble getting my Ex to take the upgrade. I was just about to leave and I was told that it finally took. I was a little hot about the time but I was glad they finally got it. The next day I logged on to Syncmyride and the first thing it said is "there is a problem with my VIN#" I've been on Syncmyride several times so what's up with my VIN. I double check the number and it's right. I guess I'll have to call customer service. Until I can log on who knows what version I have now.

Interesting.....I had my Ex updated to V2.7 on Thursday and everything showed current on Syncmyride.com. However, the updated V2.7 worked fine for a while (3 hours) then it began to act up again late Thursday PM. This time the system just went blank....came back and the volume would not work. Since I know the drill, I reset the system which worked all day Friday with no issues. This morning the FMT screen froze (Yet the voice commands worked) and the volume controls would not work. I called Ford Customer Service (spoke to Dennis) and they told me the dealer must not have installed V2.7 properly. I was then told a new version of 2.7 is being released on Monday the 4th of April. Ford Customer Service recommended strongly I get the new 2.7 version installed and to call the dealer for installation. With so many software updates and fixes flying around that are not working....I'm wondering if I should get this update or wait for validation of a solution.

Mine is going in Monday morning for SYNC update

I will advise as to which version but its odd they would speak of two versions of v2.7.

The next version of v2.7 should be v2.8 not a second v2.7

I would guess it's a modified v2.7 without requiring a full release.

2.7 in my X has worked quite well so far. It appears to have fixed my phone issues, it's quicker and they added some memory of settings to it, so when you start the vehicle, it remembers which of the 3 main screens you were on instead of defaulting to the four block display.

My information from Ford was they had found the SYNC module is not using its memory correctly. It's getting confused and overwhelmed when the actual hardware memory is more then sufficient.

There are a few SYNC people with ulcers working on it 24X7 so we should see a very significant upgrade shortly.

For those who feel SYNC team isn't taking action, they are. I suggested the area for improvement is with communication with their loyal customers. People will be patient if they understand the issues as compared to being frustrated and kept in the dark.

Unless you are part of the SYNC development team, then the information you are giving us is also heresy. You have no idea what is actually being worked on, and when a "major update" will come. They were supposed to release a public API/SDK 6 months ago that no one is talking about now. It's annoying that there are no list of changes on software revisions, no list of bugs or bug status anywhere, and no list of planned features or updates.

SYNC is a large software installation, they need to start treating it like one.

Your right......I guess time will tell which one of us is credible.

Not sure I understand your comment. My credibility is not in question here, I have not passed on information that a "major update" is soon to be released.

Furthermore, as a software engineer, this statement makes no sense. Computers don't get "confused, and overwhelmed". Computers have no feelings, they process the instructions you give them, in the order you give them. The developers are not using the memory correctly, it has nothing to do w/ the module.

Well, I don't know what a 2.7 is at all. To make matters worse (or better?) mysync said it has a 2.8 installed. No vin validation yet.
It said 2.6 last week. hmmmm
The ex was built last wed, Thurs possibly.

Hmmm.. Interesting. Mine was built last week (3/28) and I seem to be one revision behind... I wonder if you have something I don't and explains this (I don't have DVD or 302 package).

Darn it! I just setup an appt with my dealer to get mine updated tomorrow. Question is should I wait till 30th for v2.8 or should I get this updated now? Since I have v2.4, I am guessing v2.7 will show me some improvements, lets see.
