Tbars A4LD...Urgent help needed

...Thanks you both for your .02...:D

...Everything so far looks perfect as it should including the tc...1 yr. old completly rebuilt by a tranny shop with only about 7000 miles on it...I romped on the gas when I was doing 70 when this seal went...:burnout:...I won't be doing that for a while...:shifty_ey

...My new bling I am adding to the pan is a drain plug and a temp sensor...;)

...The seal that came out was the only thing that has looked used but not to bad...A little harder than what I would have liked for the low milage on it.....I have pretty much taken it easy on this truck...I keep it under 80 to the trails, only wheel 2-3 days, and then limp her home to do maintenence...:D

...Not knowing before what temps I was getting her up to will now be resolved...You can bet I will be watching the new temp guage more than the tach..;)

...Now if I could only afford a grey pillar guage pod...:(

...Thank you everyone for the help...I feel more comfortable working on my A4LD...You guys are now my excuse if it fails...:p:

One thing I was told by a Master Tech at Ford is that you should change the fluid in the A4LD every 15k so it will last longer.

I've changed mine every 15K - now it has 302,000 miles on it.

...Just curious, have you had your front pump seal go out yet???...if so, how many times???

Funny thing is i had just passed 7400 miles when my rebuild pushed out a front seal. I was also in the thottle pretty hard but only at 50.

...How long did your next seal last and did you have any other problems..???...And thanks for that bit of info, I am getting gun shy on my tranny but that just boosted my confidence...

I never ran that tranny after that. I had a manual and just did the swap. However I sold the tranny and it is still running today which has been over a year now.

Mine prob shot the seal somewhere in the high 4grand range.

No - but every since the truck was about 2 years old, there has always been a drop of tranny fluid on the bottom of the bellhousing. The bottom of the engine and tranny have always been "wet". No drips on the floor, and no appreciable loss of fluid.

Since I never had a problem with the trans, I never pulled it to change the seal. (I think my rear main is oozing a little, too.) I have never adjusted the bands, either. I wonder if I should have, but the tranny does not slip.

Apparently, being **** about changing the fluid has paid off.....

..Thanks for that bit of info...I had previously read that somewhere...All those mentioned items are all good...:dunno:

...She's up and running and wearing some new bling...:D

...Sorry for the late update guys....It was a long day of chasing parts...I put 70 plus miles on the Ranger trying to find a replacement bolt for the one we snapped, and trying to find nylon washers and some nuts for the new mechanical temp sensor..Everyone was out of stock...And yes, I put in a seperate drain plug too..:biggthump

...I will probably do a small writeup on the bling tomorrow with pics...But for now, it seems to all be working fine...:D

...We snapped an exhaust bolt...The kind with the spring...:(

...Here is the replacement part...Now everyone carry's chevy's and dodges replacement part, but the Ford one was hard to find here...

...It was a local, new to me store and it's 10 years old next to one of my muffler shops...Rodriguez Bros...They remind me of a really good NAPA store...

...Their guys all seem to know parts and have bluetooth phones which they are all communicating to parts wherehouses...7 guys at the counter 10 people in the store and everyone is done with their transactions in mere minutes...

...There motto is, if we don't have it in stock, we can get it here within the hour...I showed back up in 50 minutes and it was waiting for me...:biggthump

...All the other stores said they don't rarely ever sell them so they don't stock them but, I could order one and it would be 1 week or so...:thumbdwn:

...BTW, it cost 10 bucks...

Actually, the filter Fram sells is the same one.

...The Fram box didn't really say much but it did say to change the filter every 15,000 miles in our kind of traffic or towing...

...I guess if I make it another 8000 miles I'll change it again just for GP...:D

That store sounds very efficient. Are their price about the same as the big stores?

...I'm not sure but I bet I will be doing more business with them...The funny thing is, when I walked in I seen this guy behind the counter, I said, "Hey, I know you but I can't place where from"...He reminded me he is the guy I've been dealing with at Pepboys for months, lol...
