LoL, not because I haven't been working on it. I'm trying to finish up my little parts before I take the frame out from under it. I finally painted my hubs and knuckles, and then I started assembling everything. Prep is key to anything, and since it's winter, I precook my parts to make sure no moisture gets trapped and affects the paint.

I did manage to bust a brand new U-joint:angryfire:

For info, when I do pivot bushings, I take a hole saw and bore it out. I don't worry about centering it. Once it's drilled, the rubber just comes right out, and then you can chisel the metal shell out. It is much easier when it's not in the vehicle;)

It looks like summer in those winter pictures

For pivot bushings you can smack the edge of the metal sleeve with an air chissel once you work around the whole outside they pop out. Different ways to skin a cat

Nothing is more fun to drive then a well setup bronco :) looking forward to this one

:) looking forward to this one
we’re definitely spoiled here. We don’t get a lot of snow, but it’s been cold and overcast. I have some good days, but it’s low 20s at night, so I need to warm everything. I paint around 3, which is the warmest part of the day.

Me too!

Bathing suit weather
Feels like kyak season starting early this year… it’s and if January and my road already melted out… we better get some spring snow! I’m talking like 10-20’ of the stuff… got all these snow machines and a big field to run them on and no snow. I’m waxing the kayaks

It's hard to want to go outside right now.

Tell me more about waxing kayaks. We've never done that to ours. Why do you do it?

I'm ready to see the V8 go in, like a heart transplant.

Today I was able to get some stuff done after church. I got the u-joint that was fighting me to finally go together. Turns out the Chevy stub shaft was bowed in, and I couldn't get the clips on properly. I also installed the wild horses spindle bushings. Doesn't look like much, for nearly $60! I also got the body separated from the frame and set it on wood blocks, and took something of a motivational teaser pic. While I was removing body bolts, I found a bunch of diamonds. 😆

I also saw this split in the body on both sides, right near the rear seat pivot. Is this common on bronco 2s?

The floor of my '86 Bronco 2 had those as well. Bronco 2's and 1st gen. Explorers get those. Weld them up, and call it a day.

-8° where I'm headed to work today. Kayaks were not even on my radar.

I’m only Joking about the kyaks lol we have had a mild winter and as soon as it’s warm enough in the spring we hit the river… still few months out. Would be nice to get some snow so I can use my snow machines… but at the same time this mild winter has allowed me to play catchup a bit so I’m happy

Bii floor pans rip and crack the many years of twisting her up in the trail I had several
I fixed mine last year
I veed” them out drill the end of the crack, clean around and tack weld the cracks. Then I followed up with some sheet metal tabs over the top like band aides tack welded coated in primer and then chassis saver. I filled what was left of the cracks with silicon from underneath

I also had several rips in my frame :) the ol girl has seen some action! I maybe doing a frame off / body swap / build an entirety different bii very soon. Keep up the good work!
$60 bushings! What is the advantage over the traditional spindle bearing?

Scott turned me on to those bushings. I wasn't going to do them, until I priced regular spindle bearings. They were going to be about $20 each, so I figured for the time and money, just put in the bushings. They are self lubricating, and by design, don't bind up.

Thanks everybody for the answers about the splits. When I get closer, I'll patch and weld them up.

Today's small update: I mostly installed the parts that were in a previous picture. I put in the ball joints, and wanted to show some paint tech. I used Rust-Oleum 2x primer and quick color spray paint from Walmart. Interestingly, they appear to both be made by Rust-Oleum. It's hard, and the only difference is the price. I scuffed it by smacking it with a hammer to "relax" the ball joints into place

Another small update. I always try to have some "small projects" lined up for small amounts of time, or, in this case, when the weather is colder than I want to be in. I have a small insulated room in my shop, and decided to start cleaning up the winter rims. The worst one was really crusty, but it came out alright for the initial cleaning. I still have to do a real polish...or I might not, since they are winter rims

Any suggestions for a good polish, and buffing strategy?
