Ok all you Texans. Me and Rod (Sinjin[PEZ]) went out to the Slabs this Sunday. The Slabs is the Llano river which is West of Austin about 45 minutes in the Hill Country. This is just about the best wheeling in Central Texas I believe. Kris brought up to me us Texans should have a meeting so I was thinking of here. Tell me what you guys think. Here are some pictures.

We should have pictures of our run by Wendsday so I will post those and provide a link because there will be lots.

Bubba's Like it

Yep, it was definetly a blast. Keith did an excellent job of holding his own on his stock tires. It was so much fun, water crossing, rock-crawling, desert-like sand for stepping on the gas and feeling like your at the Baja 1000.
And then when it got too hot, we just hopped in the river, it was clean and refreshing.
So....all you Texas people need to come out of your garages and lets set something up. Either post here or email me or Keith.

ps. Yall better not go when I'm in Colorado! :)

:bounce: I am all for it. I can bring my two wheel 92 Explorer there and ride with Rob (Gofast) or Gerald if they went. Looks like a real nice place.

I'm definetly down anytime after labor day that place lokks awsome.Oh ya I'm from San Antonio.

Yaaa...its really nice, just the drive to get there is enjoyable. We could also camp out there, Lake Buchannan is right around the corner, so if we wanted to, we could rent jet skiis as well. Really nice country, Ive never been to Moab, but from the pics Ive seen, Slabs is a Mini-Moab.

Slab meet

I would perfer to do it on a Saturday.
So this weekend most are going to Colorado.
So we have September 9th, 23rd, or 30th for September.
I cannot do it the 16th because I will be at the Poker Run in Houston at 242.

The Slabs is a great place like Rod said. Lots of different areas we have water crossings, rock crawling, huge sand dunes, etc. The Slabs is about 1 mile from Kingsland, 15 from Marble Falls and about 40 from Austin.

I am having Rod and myself's pictures at the Slabs being devopled right now so if I can get to a scanner tonight I will post them.

Cabins

If you want to spend the night there are great cabin options on Lake LBJ and Lake Buch.
We have these options.

1st is on Lake Buch which is about what 25 minutes away from the Slabs. The other too I THINK are only like 5 or 10 but have never been to them.

School hasn't started yet, so I don't know jack about how busy my weekends are going to be, but the 9th and 23rd are probably ok. I can take my 2wd out and ride a few trails with it, then get into the mean stuff in one of your trucks. Should be fun!

Shots

Here are the pictures. The quality isn't good at all and the page explains why. But you get an idea. I didn't get many action shots because we were pretty rush rush.
Anyway here they are.

Looks great! We really need to try and make a weekend out of it.

Who Else

I still haven't heard from GJarrett, GoFast, Kris Guilbeaux, and someone else in Austin, sorry forgot your nick. Can you guys make it?

Gofast and GJarrett are online write now! What do think guys? Is it possible?

Keach sent me a private message and said he was down he's also from San Antonio, so all we need is a date.Hopefuly I'll have some new hubs my autos are shot but I figure with all of us there I'll be able to get pulled out if I get stuck.

Sorry I haven't replied. I am interested, but am VERY busy right now trying to cram three days' work into the next four hours since I am leaving for CO tomorrow.

I would be very interested, but would prefer a later date like 9/30. No way I could cram a CO trip next weekend, another outstate trip two weeks later, etc. I'm just doing too much right now.

I'll make it if I can. Keep me posted.

I just wanted to mention that 9/30 is Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and I will be in Houston with my family for that. However, if this is the only date that works for the rest of y'all, go without me.

The 23rd should be good for me. stress the "should".

Work around

No Alec we want you to come.
How about September 23th? Is that ok for everyone.
If not we can wait till October.

OK ......well lets see, Colorado this weekend, Poker Run 2 weeks after that, then a Slabs Run a week after that. Hmmmmmmm....well if nothing breaks I'm there! However I would prefer to push it back until October, that way for us camping, it will be cooler by then.
Just my 2 pennies,

Sounds good Rod :bounce:

Whenever ya'll want to go I have no life all I do is go on vacation.Rod also makes a good point about the heat unless someone has A/C for my tent.Oh and a modem for my cell phone so I can log on to the forum, hehe.

Date

How about October 7th?
I fear if we go later the rain might start and the trails will be unpassable. Rain season usually starts here mid October.
Still haven't heard from GoFast and Kris G. What's up you guys are you in?
