TORQUE MONSTER Headers GROUP BUY

THUNDER351
I spoke with Erica, and they are busy packaging and expect to have our headers shipped within the next week. She is hoping for sooner.
We just might have our headers for Christmas.

I called today to see about getting a set and no one answered .

Dono
If you hear anything else let me know they just don't return my calls.

96ex5.0
If you do order a set. The only time I got a return call was when they wanted the down payment & final payment. I'm still on the fence if the headers are really done yet as now it sounds like it maybe a month after I was told they would ship and when they will ship. I have a tracking number but nothings been shipped.

I need to replace my manafolds there cracking and bin welded up many times, but wondering if it's worth the trouble to get tm headers . And my state inspection is in 2 months lol my manafolds won't pass the way they leak.

I do think you will see a mileage gain, and a torque increase.
They are expensive, and you will be waiting a long time for them.

Yes nice advantages but not worth the price or wait to me. I may just break out the pipe bender and order supplies and just fab up a pair. Be cheaper and faster they may not perform as well but be better than stock.

Make yourself a pair of log manifolds, those will be better than anything available besides custom made headers. Look at any 4.6 to 5.4 high performance engine, the 5.0 Coyote's etc. They all have log manifolds on them, which was the OEM standard before the Mustang HO in the mid 80's. Hunt for aftermarket turbo manifolds, how they make them, to get ideas from. Regards,

Looks like they finally shipped my headers out. Hope they got yours out also. Mine should be here the end of next week. Over a month after they said it would ship.

This is what it looks like after waiting for 1 1/2 years and still had to modify to make them fit a ranger.

Mine hit the Anaheim ups facility yesterday. A slightly late xmas gift. Happy days.

I picked up my headers today.

I will say the quality is amazing. Great attention to detail. even the welds around the inside of the head flanges were cleaned up before coating. My first set (The one that keeps cracking) did not see this attention.

Got mine yesterday too. They do look great. They look like they will flow much better then the factory tube header. At least the came before my ranger 5.0 swap was done.

They will bolt up but the ports do not match.

I know your post is a year old, but a few times I've seen people in this thread mention that the headers don't work with aluminum or aftermarket heads.

That sounds kinda odd to me considering gt40p and cobra heads are heavily used on foxbody mustangs.
Ford racing makes 1 single set of headers that pretty much work on any basic 302 head including TW's, afr's, etc. regardless of make other than TFS high ports on the mustang.
The only difference in a P head is the spark plug angle, but normally a header meant for a P head will work on any head and it's standard headers that will mount to P, but there are clearance issues with the spark plug boot. You can actually run them, but you may burn up wires much more often.

I plan on putting my extrude honed wedges on my supercharged saleen explorer with a custom cam and ported eaton. I have an original set of TM's on the truck made by bob years ago (which still look great)

I do have extensive experience with 302 based engines in foxbody's, also have owned half a dozen different heads, along with those heads I've had a bunch of headers.
Not accusing anyone of anything, trying to iron out the details before I pull it apart.
Of course I could be wrong (that's why i'm checking), but the ports not lining up just doesn't make sense to me considering the ports are the same so are the bolt holes.

The vehicle itself should have no effect on the ports matching up.

This isn't the issue you will have, but you might run in to something similar.

Here's where ford99_1979 had some TM's made with the proper flanges for his trick flow heads.

I think vroomzoomboom was able to confirm that the headers built for the trick flow heads would work on the 'P' heads' so I'd guess the 'P' head torquemonsters would work fine with trick flow heads. That just made my head spin.

You are right about the port locations and the headers fitting them. But the Explorer unique headers are made with little extra space for mixing a "P" head or header with the other kind. I would be surprised if the TM units will work with the other version heads, or if the "P" version would for the TFS heads.

But beyond those basics, if you know Mustangs well and the typical sizes of upgrade parts, compare what you are used to with the available and common Explorer stuff. Do you really want to use a 1.5" header on a blown SBF? What are good sized exhaust parts on a blown Mustang, for the headers, collectors, cat pipes, mufflers(how many), and tail pipes.

If you want to see similar power from the engine, it needs the similar sized parts, all of them if at all possible. The exhaust should be made to be true duals all the way back, and you know what size they should be.

The headers, ... look at virtually any late model Mustang with a modular engine. What do they use for exhaust manifolds? That should tell you what is the best choice for a vehicle with such little space for headers. Good luck and do post up any pictures, make a thread on the project, descriptions etc. We all love to see successful stories. Regards,

Thanks guys,
Hey don, been a while (joe).
I'm not after max hp in the explorer these days. Beyond the TM's and the 3in custom stainless catback I had made, i'm leaving the exhaust be.
Emissions legal and reliable is more important at this time.

I'll pop a wheel and inner liner off and match up the plug angles on the p heads on the truck and the TW's I have, should give me an idea how much clearance there is really going to be. I see your point and was always concerned about it, but after reading turdles post and then not seeing anyone correct him I was curious.

I still have my days where I think to just change the meter out, install the 42's I have, have it tuned and be done with it.
I have a bun in the oven and need to get some of my 50 projects out of the way. Right now the explorer is fine, but it does need to be tuned after the pulley change port and rebuild. I have the tuner and with friends with a mustang race shop with a dyno, I have unlimited support. BUT, since my projects are a little of the normal path, I need to have my crap together when we start.

Cool Joe, how is that black XP8 doing? I miss the other forum, but it's a small group to support a site like that. I too am off the normal path, but I chug along with the same goal etc. I've got the Saleen front and rear bumpers, plus the wing to go on. My 347 is going into the Lincoln soon, and I'll do my own blower plenums for a KB next.

You have access to a good SCT tuner, that helps you a lot. You can do the upgrades you want to, and make it run right when you need it. Check out some of the other blower Explorers here, there are a good number now with bigger late Ford blowers, and with IC's too. Those guys are leading the way with big power in these SUV's. Night,

Has anyone spoken to the guy or received a return email?

I called the number from the website and actually spoke to the guy, I believe his name was Ron I'm horrible with names- anyways I spent about 45 mins talking about the headers but then he say's that he was moving his shop to Palm Beach I believe so he said give him a few months to get going again and that he would resume making them. I got an email from him telling a woman to put me down for a set, now I have called several times and left messages as well as emails but I have yet to here anything...

Has anyone else had any luck or know if theres a new number, or way to reach him. I have tried every source on the internet has to find any header that would work, looked for any used pairs of TM or the Ford Racing ones. If anyone has any information or know any source, or anyone who is willing to sell a set - Im willing to pay good money.

Tm Headers

As far as I know, the original fabricator of the TM headers has passed the torch (either temporarily or permanently) to a shop called Al's Headers in Anaheim CA. Now, I have been dealing with Al's to get a replacement EGR tube for my TM headers setup. They seem like nice enough people over the phone (Al and his daughter) but i have been waiting for over 5 weeks for my part. They sent it after 3 weeks and it WAS THE WRONG ONE. They sent me a stock EGR tube JUST like the one i could get at Autozone, yet they charged me $120 to do so. So after sending them the part back and waiting for a replacement for another 2 weeks now, I have yet to hear a peep from them about it.

Bottom line - patience when dealing with anybody that makes these at this point. Especially if the gentleman that used to make them gets back into it.

Also... make sure you buy with a bank/card that you can get a refund for it, (Disputing the charge) because there is a extreme likelihood that something will be wrong.
